Captain Tom

But JUSTGIVING get 5% comission from this - £750,000

JustGiving did away with the 5% fee in the UK over a year ago. This is what they say they charge now:What irritates me is the petition on change.org. That is not the official UK government petition site and they do ask for donations to further the petition. How many people sign that and then donate, believing they are contributing to Captain Tom's cause, when nothing they give will go that way?Edit: HIghly inspirational achievement, and he deserves a knighthood IMO.

The goft aid option was right there. I used it on my donation without even having to look for it.

Just Giving does allow you to add Gift Aid to donations.
And definitely allows it for Captain Tom, the £16million donated so far is before the Gift Aid amount is included 😄4 -
Choose "other " and give Just Giving a 1p !

1.9% plus 20p per donation
Is the charity charge of £39, per month, on top of this ?0 -
Deduct from JustGiving's profit the amount the credit/debit card companies charge them to process the payments. Maybe the NHS Charities are using the free plan with JustGiving. Even if they are not, £39 a month isn't bad for the very high percentage of over £18,000,000 that Captain Tom has raised.I don't work for JustGiving, but I have no objection to them making a small amount of money for running the platform that allows people to donate to things they feel are worthwhile. This is how JustGiving say a £30 donation with Gift Aid would go to the charity...People who still don't like it are free to donate to the charity concerned directly, and let them pay the credit card company's fees and process the Gift Aid, if they are set up to do so...Personally, I think I'll just make another donation through Just Giving.

Whatever !Captain Tom should be officially recognised for what he's done !0

50Twuncle said:Whatever !
From Wikipedia. Below. Is it rude to say whatever?Yes, it's rude. "Whatever" expresses indifference; often, expressing indifference is dismissive, and in this case, it's dismissive of what the other person has to say. Semantically, it's equivalent to responding with "I don't care". Being dismissive is what makes it rude.
Agree that "Captain Tom" should be recognised.
Perhaps the OP can start another new thread in Campaigns Corner

Make the total now close to £25.5m for the NHS.
I say that he should be Knighted, made an OBE (like Martin Lewis) or a MBE.1 -
I’ve just listened to the song.
I love Michael Ball, he is one of my favourite singers. To listen to him sing “You’ll never walk alone” with Major Tom and NHS choir was heart rending. There were tears running down my cheeks.3
