Why am i not eligible for furlough ????? -- Please help --

Hi,

Is they anyone i can talk to regarding the furlough ?

My boss has said that even with the change to cut off to the 19th March i am still not eligible for that type of payment.

I started my Job on the 9th March, originally the cut off for furlough was 29th Feb so i was unable to claim it, the gov then moved the date to the 19th but work are saying they are still unable to pay me furlough pay. I got paid for the work i did in March so i am very confused on why i would not be able to get the payment?

I have tried to call nemours ppl over this and had no joy in getting a answer.

They are saying it is down to a RTI Submission btu i am unsure what that is or why ti would affect me.

Any help would be appreciated as at the moment i am worried i am going to get no income in for April, May ect

Steven

This could be why because if you weren't on the payroll by 19th March then your employer won't be able to furlough you.

Your boss is right, unfortunately the change of date from the 28th of February to the 19th of March will not have made any difference to your eligibility for the scheme at all. As the company runs payroll at the end of the month they won’t have entered the RTI (real time information) until then

    That's the answer I'm afraid.
RTI refers to Real Time Information - the information your employer passes over to HMRC each week/month to say who's on the payroll, who's been paid what, how much tax and NI have been deducted etc. The furlough rules appear to have been changed so that although the date has moved from 28th to 19th March, they've also clarified that HMRC need to have recived an RTI submission including the emplyee to be furloughed by that date.
  • So were this leave me?
Would i not be on the payroll as i clock in and out every shift?

That is why you are not eligible for furlough. Your new employer had to have filed a full payment submission for you by 19 March for you to be eligible for furlough, and as you weren't paid until 31 March they didn't need to do that until after 19 March.
  • so tbh this is not really going to help many ppl at all as payment is normally end of a month
    looks like i am fooked

I’m a nutshell yes, if you have savings of under £16,000 look at universal credit

This doesn't mean you will be on the payroll. You need to look at claiming Universal Credit. If you have savings of more than £16,000 you will be excluded from claiming. Use a benefits calculator to see what you maybe entitled to. https://www.entitledto.co.uk/

If you're claiming tax credits, a claim for UC will end the tax credits.

Council tax reduction can be claimed from your local council, if needed.
