Messages or recorded messages on my Mobile phone - is it possible to run an app on PC to alert me?

I rarely use my mobile phone, it's an old one and for 'emergency use' only hence it's always stuck inside my coat pocket.
This means that I often miss messages on my mobile phone. Is there any kind of program/app which I can install on my Windows PC and somehow 'connect' to my mobile phone number (via my online account?) so that I get an alert on my PC whenever there's a text or recorded message on my mobile?
I'm with EE.

Of course I could check my mobile at regular times of the day, but that's a pain considering it's a rather slow old phone combined with the fact that there are intermittent signal problems in my area. The ring tone is often pretty quiet too (it's at maximum volume, and yes my hearing is fine! )
