I also think some people think its free money, the thing is its not we all will be paying this back for years in higher taxes, increased prices for most things as businesses will have to try and recoup losses. I worry for the future financially not only from a personal perspective but in general so I hope this virus is overcome and we get back to some kind or normality as soon as possible otherwise to not sound dramatic but this could change life as we know for a very long time.

If it carries on there'll be no jobs to go back to..col81 said:I wonder what they will do then if people cannot return and they have had the full allowance. I think it will carry on for 12 months the rate it is going at

col81 said:It looks likely this will roll on for a lot longer than the 12 weeks from when it started, what is likely to happen will the government keep the scheme rolling until we are individually able to return??
I doubt it
End of 12 weeks every employer will be having some idea of if they will ever be able to reopen again, and make money
I would imagine after the end of June you will have to either be back in work or on UC0 -
There's not a chance the gov will extend the furlough scheme. It was a bad idea to begin with.
They should've just gave 0% interest loans or just tide people with universal basic income for basic supplies.

The idea was good they just implemented it badly. The original idea was basically do not make employees redundant that you may need in the future. However they opened it up to pretty much everybody being able to lay off entire workforce for a few months. As I am sure 80% of people it being claimed for where at no risk of being made redundant. Just that companies have decided it far better to furlough them then to keep operating.RyanHello said:There's not a chance the gov will extend the furlough scheme. It was a bad idea to begin with.

Nobody knows what will happen, not even the government. There is no doubt that social distancing will continue for many months to come (maybe until a vaccine is found or herd immunity is achieved, another debate) and as a result many businesses will be unable to operate - particularly in the entertainment and travel sectors. I'd guess that some sort of furlough scheme will continue for those people but that is purely a guess.0
