Seafarers Mortgage Application

Hi all,
I am British citizen, and currently work as a seafarer. Doing so I am entitled to my Seafarer Earners Deduction (SED), so I basically have to pay zero tax on my earnings.

I am looking at buying my first home this year, and was wondering if anyone knows of any advisers or brokers they can recommend? I have spoken to a couple of mortgage advisers in my local area, to which they have all said I will not get a mortgage. I know this is wrong, and the process is different due to my SED, so I wish to find someone who has knowledge with seafarers mortgages.

Do you have a union or trade association you could ask?  They might be able to recommend a broker/lender who specialises in this area.  I actually just did a quick search of this forum, and your question has been asked a few times, but not very encouraging answers, I'm afraid.

There are only maybe 2-3 lenders who will do seafarer mortgages I am aware of, so options are a little slim. 
One thing that does crop up occasionally is people wanting to get a higher mortgage amount due to there be no tax, but unfortunately they will work off your gross pay like anyone else.
