Help please! Made a mistake setting DD amount

in Credit cards
Hi, I’m hoping someone can help. My husband and I have £8000 debt which we have recently transferred to Barclaycard 0%. The first DD is due out in 2 days, and we have just realised that the amount is set to full statement amount. We thought we had set it to £400 per month but we have obviously made a mistake. Cannot get through on the phone to Barclaycard to make payment via phone so as it stands the DD will bounce. Can anyone suggest best course of action? Should we try to cancel DD? Many thanks in advance.

Thank you so much for your reply Sourcrates, I will go onto online banking and cancel now. I will also make a payment on Barclaycard website and hope this will avoid any charges. Thanks again!0

Can you pay your planned payment of £400 through the web with your debit card? You need to make sure at least the minimum payment is addressed to ensure you don't lose your promotional rate.0

Thanks for your reply cymruchris, yes I have just gone on and made the payment of £400. The minimum payment is £180. I will get the DD set up again with the correct amount when I can get a hold of Barclaycard. Thanks again!0

Have you got your app up and running? You can make the relevant changes there - see my screenshots above.0

Hi cymruchris, the button to cancel Direct Debit is greyed out on my app, it says because it’s due out in the next few days it’s too late. I have gone onto my current account app and cancelled it there. Many thanks!0

Have you tried calling from the app it may get you through quicker but obviously I don't know if it will0

The process starts several days (used to be 10) days before payment date.
Or it could be because it was the 1st payment.Life in the slow lane0 -
Thanks everyone, we tried calling through the app but no luck. Will try calling them again in the morning to explain the situation! Thanks0

The reason the cancel button greyed out is because it's too late to cancel it. When you cancel it from your banking app, I think it says something like "Make sure you also cancel with the company you are paying or they may try to take the payment anyway".
You should really try to contact them, even if it means putting your speaker on the phone and carrying it around the house with you.I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.0
