Kaspersky is fine. The news about it being a state spying tool is bull.
Windows 10 defender though, isn't too bad.

Ditch Kaspersky - its pointless if you are using W10 as the built in defender is fine to satisfy your AV needs.
Malware is your biggest enemy these days - and malwarebytes is by far and away the best security product available to combat that.
The difference between the free and premium versions is that with the free version, you need to manually open up the software and perform scans.
The premium version provides 'real-time'' scanning.

Wether or not its worth buying the premium version or not depends on how 'clic-happy' you are and how much you trust yourself to not run any exe's by 'mistake' or follow dodgy links.

You cant really compare the price difference between kaspersky and malwarebytes , they are apples and oranges.

Malwarebytes is the one single piece of security software that i would actually advise spending money on
BiB - I'm running Malwarebytes free edition atm, so would you advise spending the approx. £30 for a 1 year plan and seeing how "click happy" I am in that year before deciding to renew?

Thanks Andy, I'm not click happy at all, I'd say I've always been cautious but after the previous ID theft attempt I'm bordering on paranoid:) Its just finances at the moment that are holding me back(like a lot of others in these times). I was hoping the Defender along with MWB free would be enough.
    Thanks for replying.

    Hi MothballsWallet,
thanks for the input. So you're having no issues with the free MWB? Is it just run manually every day?? and you're obviously happy with it?
    Thanks
  • Thanks for everyone's help and input. KAS has expired, Defender is on and I'm running the downloaded MWB(trial period)-all is quiet on the western front:)
