  • So now that Social Energy has gone bust and everyone is being switched to British Gas, what are peoples plans? I started to look at Octopus and had a pop-up appear saying 'Don't join us right now, we're too expensive'. Not sure what the best route is right now given the complication of solar panels and battery.

Bear in mind if you were claiming SEG, you can have two suppliers: one for import and the other for export. Octopus will not pay you SEG unless you can provide a MCS Certificate.

I'd be interested if anyone with Social Energy and a battery finds a way of actually controlling the charge and discharge times.
  • It depends on the battery but with my solax, having removed the social energy control, I can now set charge/discharge times, set it to prioritise self use, prioritise feeding the grid etc.

Hi, Yes, I am an ex SE punter ( prefer not to be called a customer). Quick answer, I have taken control of my inverter and battery. The LAN dongle used by SE is crippled and will not allow access to the apps etc. I took out my LAN device and replaced it with a compatible Pocket WIF2 USB dongle. Logged in and registered, I can use the Solaxcloud app on PC and phone and can control the inverter. The PIN number are 2014 for the advanced user setting and 6868 for the super user setting (presuming the installers did not change the poINS) I bought the WIFI device for £25 on ebay
