Selling timeshare does anyone have any up to date info

I was wondering if anyone had any up to date experience on how to sell your timeshare and who to use, I can’t seem to find any recent posts on this and we have no idea where to start

Not recent, but I did speak to Aberfoyle Holidays some years ago and they were very honest about potential resale value, or lack thereof. Their charges used to be very low so it can do no harm to ask them. As a matter of interest where do you own? Just country if you don't wish to give more detail than that.

When I, and many others, wanted out from a UK based timeshare company we ended up having to buy our way out. Very unhappy about it but at least we were free from the escalating maintenance fees and falling resort quality after the event. This is the link to Aberfoyle Holidays https://www.aberfoyleholidays.com/ I must stress that I have absolutely no connection with them and my only dealings with them has been a conversation when I called into their office when we were on holiday in the area. The website is worth taking the time to read.

Have a look at timeshare hypermarket. They are genuine in that they have buyers and sellers and you can see real prices for your resort. For red weeks they run from £2500 to someone who thinks they are going to sell a one bedroomed apartment for over £35000. I assume the seller chooses the price to be offered. Whatever you do avoid any company that wants you to attend at their offices for a presentation of any sort, they are all retired timeshare salesmen who would sell granny for a profit and never, under any circumstances agree to pay fees upfront or even as some people have agreed, to buy more timeshare to get rid of the original one1

Just to add, you need to be realistic about selling price. Although T/S was sold as an investment the units most definitely have not held their value, let alone increased. At many resorts it is now possible to rent weeks for less than purchasers have to pay in maintenance fees annually. At Club Praia Da Oura I can see over a dozen currently on sale starting from under £1000. Also bear in mind that is the asking price, not necessarily the price they will sell for.

I entirely agree, for most people, it is just a way to get rid of the annual maintenance fees which in some cases are higher than the cost of a full package holiday. Club Praia da Oura is no longer a new development, I saw it back in the mid 80's and it had been there some time by then, so it may be a case of 'take whatever you can' to get rid of it1

Had two weeks in Tenerife that we managed to give back to the resort, fees going up and less time to use. Obviously a financial loss but a mill-stone that became untied. That was 11 years ago so things may be different now, good luck2

Never EVER pay an upfront fee - you will not see it again and your timeshare will remain unsold!0
