Jet2 Flight cancellation

We booked return flights from Alicante to Leeds/Bradford in March. The day before we were due to fly back Jet2 cancelled our flight due to Coronavirus. We then scoured the internet for flights and managed to get one from Manchester the following day. The flight was about £100-00 extra plus hotel, £90-00, and a taxi. Jet2 have offered us £222-00, which was the cost of the 2 original flights. Should we except the offer or are we entitled to get the additional costs back? Thank you.

What you need to do is put in a claim for the the extra cost of the flight from Manchaeter plus the costs of the hotel and taxi and any food minus alcohol. See what they say. If they refuse ask them for a deadlock letter and take it to Arbitration.

This is an interesting one. Jet2 will likely refuse any claim on the basis of the FCO advice against all foreign travel. There's also a chance the flight may have operated empty in order to bring people home from Alicante.0

They can turn down a request for compensation but not for re-routing etc if they do off to arbitration and if necessary to the small claims court.0

Just to warn you that Jet2 are behaving disgracefully regarding those people who wish to re-book cancelled flights. Finally received an email from them telling me I can re-book my flight without incurring any admin charges.Sounds great - except that for the the same flights next year they want an extra 29%!!This is despite the fact that they will be hedging their fuel costs right now whilst oil prices are rock bottom. You would have thought that they would rather keep your money and get you to re-book, not rip you off.
What are they playing at?So Jet2, a refund it’s going to be then
