  • What a wonderful thread - lots of opinion - most of it strong too!

At the end of the day - what are you really scared of here? The possibility that you'll get ripped off? The possibility that you'll be made to do something that you don't want to do? In that case, try starting your own business (your own idea) from scratch - or go get a franchise - the few hundred pounds it costs you to get started in a networking business is going to look a little cheap after that!

If you trust the people you are dealing with, you like the product/service and you are self-motivated and positive, go for it. If you don't fit the bill, or aren't sure then don't bother.

Look for a good track record, great product/service, a good support and training structure around you and be prepared to learn some new skills... the same advice I'd suggest if you were going to look for a new job.

Good luck - we chose network marketing and now that's all we do (apart from being virtually full time parents!!)

  • Forever Living Products are ok,
Only if you don't mind paying through the nose for low quality and dreadful value for money. See my post 26 and 21 for the extent of the rip off.

Acting outside of the law may be one factor to be aware of. FLP appear to me to be operating on the very edge of the law, and I suspect that attending an induction event could provide evidence of actual lawbreaking.
Anyone who is prepared to put into serious jeopardy the health and wealth of their customers seems to me to be ethically challenged and encouraging people to believe in the healthgiving properties of supplements which are below strength and overpriced is to me tatamount to participating in a dangerous fraud.
Like all evangelists, con men appear trustworthy, they have to be to succeed. The training and support given is simply the equivalent of brainwashing. I'm surprised anyone here is prepared to touch it with a bargepole.

But who doesn't anyway? If it's illegal they'll get nicked. If it's morally wrong not much anybody can do. If Trading Standards, OFT, DTI etc can't enforce anything as they are legally compliant, then its the usual name and shame tactic and they become Watchdog fodder.

If they're selling supplements, their days will be numbered and they will move on to selling something else anyway.
:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:
