Dear Shakin I think you are right just a little overreaction on my part now I take time to think about it. Many thanks1

I am not certain of this, but if you were to predecease your wife, she should be able to obtain Probate and she would inherit all that is yours and the reverse is true if your wife predeceases you, providing neither of you has an existing will. My advice is to make a will: services are available on the internet to make your own, if you cannot afford a solicitor. All you need is a couple of witnesses.
I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

Intestacy? The above is not necessarily true.

If your wife doesn't have enough money in her own account to manage until she gains administration of your estate, transfer some money into her account now.Ginger123456789 said:the end game is: we don’t have a will written and how would my wife get easy access to the money in my bank accounts in the event of my death given the current environment

That is true up to £270,000 which, I think, would cover most cases.Robisere said:I am not certain of this, but if you were to predecease your wife, she should be able to obtain Probate and she would inherit all that is yours and the reverse is true if your wife predeceases you, providing neither of you has an existing will. I haven’t yet but hey there has to be a work around doesn’t there? As long as they can see us sign the document from 2 meters away and we can see them from 2 meters away then all good. I sign it and leave the document on the garden wall they pick it up and we watch them sign it and then repeat.0

Just to return to this - there is a significant difference between your wife being legally entitled to your money (via a will) and your wife having easy access to it, given the time it takes to administer an estate (especially when grieving). If she doesn't have several weeks/months worth of routine day-to-day expenditure in her own accounts then surely this would be worth arranging?Ginger123456789 said:the end game is: we don’t have a will written and how would my wife get easy access to the money in my bank accounts in the event of my death given the current environment2
