Most certainly - I hope lots of people do that - emergency fund and life happens fund.
A lot of the faithful on here keep asking people to do so. I wonder how many of those who do not have one, now wish they had listen.
I am lucky because I took note and save for both, it was not easy, but I knew there would come a time when it would be needed.
I also got rid of all my debts. I knew exactly what having debt is all about. I have lived through having so much debt it, that it affects your emotional well being.
After persevering, I managed to pay them off and made a promise to myself that I would never ever put myself through that again - I started to live within my means and secure some savings.
I have always had a stock pantry, so no need to rush out and buy food - only fresh fruit and vegetables.
Post corona virus is going to be extremely hard financially and economically - it going to take a long time before we are back to normal, if we can call it that.

Depends which generation you were born into. If your grandparents / parents were the world war generations then they imparted very different advice to youngsters.4

Never put your house on the market two days before lockdown.
Edit - also pay off all your debts (excluding mortgage) within 48 hours of lockdown.5 -
I'm still waiting to see whether my strategy works out - I bought mainly ITs for my pension portfolio (that is now in drawdown) in the hope that the reserves held by ITs would provide a second buffer to the cash reserve I also hold within the SIPP. I'm guessing I won't really know whether the strategy worked for the next 18 months or so.The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

How to feel smug when your investment strategy works exactly as you hoped it would.
Mind you, the kind folks on the MSE forum have contributed one heck of a lot to that smug feeling. I have learned so much by participating in this forum over the last few years that it has been a huge help getting to the point I am at now.13 -
I learned that a toilet roll lasts me 17 days which, at 200 sheets per roll, is just under 12 sheets per day, which surprised meSorry but you did ask19

If you take on too much risk during the good times, you end up bailing out when the losses pile up.1
