Self employed - living with parents

Hey! Me and my partner moved in with my parents last year. My partner is self employed. I just need some guidance as to if he will be entitled to anything from UC before the self employed grants in June. I am a teaching assistant and working from home, and my dad is still working, my mum has been furloughed. But we still have bills to pay and my wage isn’t great 😂
Please no negative comments just need some advice as to if he can claim something
thanks any help will be appreciated! 😊

I think if you aren't able to work temporarily, you can claim UC - the only hard barrier being that you can't have over £16k in cash savings.0

Use a benefits calculator. You will need to claim as a couple with your partner. Your parents earnings/savings won't affect anything you maybe entitled to. As you're living with parents you won't be entitled to any help with the rent. https://www.entitledto.co.uk/

Ah okay, doesn’t it go on household income?Or on partner, I have savings over 16 but he doesn’t. As he is self employed so unsure0

As above, use the benefits calculator which is put together using entitlements, rather than opinions on a forum. That'll tell you exactly what you can claim.0

It’s saying we’re not entitled to anything! We can’t live off just my wage! 😭0

If you have savings over 16k as you've stated then you can use those to supplement your income, until you see what help is available for your partner in June.
Hopefully things will start to improve before then.
There may be more room in your budget than you first think as no travel costs to work, going out socially etc.
Could partner take another job temporarily? The supermarkets, care industry and agriculture are all wanting people. Many small local businesses now doing delivery may want help as well.0 -

His savings are part yours because a means tested benefit means you claim as a couple.

It makes no difference what it's for, savings are savings and if you have more than £16,000 then you won't be entitled to any means tested benefits.
