iPad iCloud running out of space - 5gb

I don’t see why I should buy more space and cannot understand how the 5gb iCloud storage has been filled. I have some photos and have deleted all the useless ones. There’s no music or video files. I had the same issue, I still had photos on iCloud I’d deleted on my iPhone, I deleted them on the iCloud website and freed up space. I also stopped some apps uploading data to iCloud if they didn’t need to (mainly games).
