EASYJET - Flight I need to cancel

Options
In January I booked flights to fly from Isle of Man to Gatwick/Isle of man, reason, I was due to get a connecting flight to Sweden with Norwegian Airlines, today I received an email from Norwegian Airlines advising they have cancelled my flight for the end of May due to Covid 19, my question is, do I contact Easyjet and cancel (but would I get a refund), or wait till they cancel (most likely to) then I would get a refund??

You have it right. If cancel now, it's your choice and their normal T&Cs will apply, so you'll lose your money.

You could reschedule to later in the year if you have any reason to visit the mainland?

Or, you could wait and see, it might need cancelling anyway due to Covid-19.  In which case you'll be entitled to a refund. That said, once things to start to ease, it will be domestic flights that start first.
  • There are already threads on this topic. As things stand at the moment:
    1. Wait till you get an email from easyJet telling your flight with them is cancelled.
    2. Phone them and ask for a refund.
    That's it.
  • I have flights booked for Tunisia in August. The last time I booked was the year of the terror attack. Last year I was booked for Croatia, also had to cancel due to cancer treatment. This year...  you get the gist of how this is going. The foreign office advice is all travel is cancelled indefinitely. My option is to hang on, and wait to see the situation closer to the date, otherwise easyJet won't refund ( not their policy) but I don't want to travel in the autumn. Any updates on this?

By the time the flight is cancelled (if) you should be able to move it well into next year.

Not wanting to travel is entirely your choice but is not a basis for a refund if you cancel.  Nor would it entitle you to claim off your travel insurance.  'Disinclination to travel' is often listed as a specific exclusion on travel insurance.
