Tui Holidays

@beano2
There is information on their website letting you know of the situation and what options are available.
I received a general email from TUI yesterday about our holiday on 9 May. It came as no surprise of the holiday cancellation and as I had been following the information on the TUI.co.uk website I was aware of likely options.

We woke up in our Gatwick hotel on 13 April to read text saying our flight/cruise starting 4 hours later was cancelled and TUI would contact to discuss. No discussion but next day (14 April) did receive formal email cancellation including statement that our payment would be refunded to our VISA credit card the same day. Still waiting for the money nearly four weeks later, and of course impossible to contact TUI. It appears likely that TUI are retaining our money. Should I start Chargeback procedures via my card company or is that just adding work at a time of overload? Why can't TUI just be honest and make refunds where due. I'm sure when things finally return to normal many former TUI customers will remember treatment during these difficult days, both good and bad service.

A chargeback is pointless and will fail. You will have to be patient.0

There are lots of threads about TUI holidays - both for dates past and dates in the future.Some people have received refunds.You may wish to read this thread:The original poster received a refund - I think it might be around page 5 or 6.

So far Mio55 is the only person to say they have received a refund and it seems this was after multiple calls. I was promised a refund within 5 days on 16th March. After no refund I called on 3rd and received another email now saying 4 weeks. At least I have confirmation of a refund so I will not accept a voucher no matter what they say in future. I also have a section 75 in progress that I will continue to nudge along.
Do TUI realise when the lockdown ends they will still have to keep their stores closed to keep out the angry pitchfork mob? I will be at the front of that mob.0 -
And the first to be ejected from the store, I expect. Being Billy Bigshot isn't going to get you the resolution you're entitled to. Yes because its the fault of the staff in the shops isnt it? Deary me.1

Just to add there is no call centre as staff working from home and no different to every other business in that they have staff who are sick, self isolating etc therefore not as many staff to take calls. They are working their way through everyone, maybe have a look at their website which explains this. People are dying and seriously ill, businesses going bust etc but as long as you get your refund now!!! Get a grip and maybe some patience?2

Hidden in the TUI FAQs link in the emails they are sending out advising a credit refund code or holiday change is available is the bit about reclaiming cash. They say once your receive a credit code you can phone them (yeah i know!) and request cash. TUI are trying to hoodwink customers. Yikes!
