National Trust Holiday Cottage Booking - Cancelled and won't refund deposit

Our family, including my parents who are bothin their 70's and self isolating at the moment, have booked for a week in a National Trust holiday cottage in June.
Over the past several weeks we have been asking the NT if given the lock down we can cancel and get a refund. They refused and offered us the chance to rebook next year. Yesterday they emailed us to say they where 'postponing our holiday to later in the year' due to the Coronavirus lockdown.
Has anyone else had a similar experience or managed to negotiate a refund?

And maybe take a look at this link from MSE:You'll need to scroll down to the bit headed 'what about holidays in the UK?'

I too am having all sorts of trouble with a NT cottage holiday. My holiday booked for 1st June but NT have closed their properties until 30th June which is well in advance of the current Government lock down. NT have offered a holiday next year but this is not convenient. I have asked for a refund of deposit but they have countered stating they want me to pay a cancellation fee and quoting their terms and conditions which I feel don't cover the situation as yet . The fact is NT have in my opinion jumped the gun with closures so far into the future and of course insurance wont pay out at this stage. I feel this is both unfair to me and a really good way to ruin the NT's future business.
