I went to Lidl on Friday morning about 11am and Morrisons at 1:30pm for the few bits that Lidl had sold out or everytime I went to the section, there were many customers around it and forgot to come back.

Both times, the queues were constantly moving and didn't spend more than 15 seconds behind a line.

In Lidl, I did queue up at the checkout the far end and joined up in the wine section. Bad idea as 2 bottles went into my trolley.

Sainsbury's near me now has reduced opening hours, closing at 8pm on Mon and Tues, 10pm on Wed and Thurs, 9pm on Fri and 8 on Sat, and not opening at all on Sundays. That of course means that shoppers will be more concentrated than normal, and so more liable to spread the disease, plus of course there are more shoppers in the first place because nobody is eating out. Maybe it means that shelf-stackers can steer clear of shoppers more.
  • It's only closed on Sunday because it's Easter Sunday! Don't panic!

I think Im the only person in the UK comforted by seeing a queue

I walked out of lidl, my choice of shop at the weekend because it was rammed

So today I had to go shopping. Drove past Lidl, busy car park, no queue so drove on past  - to Tescos and a queue to the car park entrance

Yes it took 30 minutes in the queue, yes some of the shelves were empty, yes my shopping cost at least £20 more then normal, but at least I had a shopping trip that was relatively stress free

For all people that moan about increased shopping bills. Put this way. Normally, you go out for meals, days out either to tourist attractions or to your town centre etc

The money saved from unable to go out normally is going towards paying 20p more for a loaf of bread in your corner shop etc.

I have found that I have plenty of time to stand around in supermarket queues because everything else I used to do is banned.

I wonder whether it would be better/safer to have a queue of cars rather than a queue of people?

Not much use for those that don't drive

Went to Aldi today at much the same (mid afternoon) time as the 2 previous Thursdays. Today fr the first time there was a biggish queue.  It was no trouble to wait 10 minutes in glorious sunshine.  They'd also introduced a 'one adult, one trolley' system like Sainsbury's since last week so inside the shop was much quieter.  Drove past Asda on the ay home and there was a massive queue all round he car park. Not sure why it seems so much busier this week. Perhaps people are running out of stockpiled food? Shopping in advance instead of Sunday?  I just hope it's not for parties.

The usual siege mentality that is displayed by very many before any Bank Holiday.
