Look on the bright side: at least you both seem to have kitchens.  I moved end of Feb, got a quote from B&Q when my builder said he'd get a better deal from Howdens.  While waiting for that quote, the lockdown happened.  My old kitchen has already been ripped out and there's no electricity in there (rewiring job to be done with the new kitchen).  I've had to buy a fridge and all my cooked food comes either from my slow cooker or air fryer, both of which, along with the fridge, are in my dining room.
Ah thats really bad, sorry to hear it. Yeah things are going wrong all over the place, and I'm very lucky in many ways. Good luck mate
  • Given the circumstances, it is unlikely the anyone else can do the kitchen. Lets say extra bits are needed during the installation with most DIY shops closed you wont get very far.
As for the tenant's, I appreciate the pressure of possibly paying a mortgage on the property while it is empty but even when the tenants arrive, they are still within able to take a rent holiday straight away, leaving you with the needed cash for 3 months(or more if the gov extends that). There isn't really a win-win situation here at the moment.

    Hi

I went into IKEA Bristol a month ago to design and order my kitchen.  I had tenants who wanted to move in at the start of June
You buy Ikea kitchens for a rental property?

Would have thought it would be bottom to mid range Landlords put in?

I would wait on Ikea, as others have said you might not get any rent for a while anyway.

Sorry I don't understand what you mean, are you saying I should have gone with a more expensive kitchen?

Where are you getting this '3 months rent holiday' from? There's no such thing.

Same here, old kitchen ripped out and we're surviving (quite well) with a slow cooker and microwave.  Luckily we got the new windows and door fitted 5 days prior to lockdown.
