Washing machine drawer problems

Posted before about washer, guy came to repair and gave advice. I’ve always had trouble opening the drawer and I don’t usually use it but the guy advised to do so, so I was trying to open it and the front came off in my hands (I’m not an especially strong person at all)

now I'm not sure if I can still use the machine and just go back to putting detergent in the drum?

The last thing I need is another leak I just need to be able to wash some clothes!

Can I still use the machine?

If it's just the pretty front of the drawer that's come off then you'll be fine.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

All depends on if the water comes out of the gap or not, only one way to find out !

That’s what worries me! I’d rather know before that it’s gonna be ok

Please, on no account give the make and model number of the washing machine. Or a photo.

Edit: That's a bit unkind of me, but perhaps you take my point that the answer to your question depends a bit on the particular machine you have. Having said that, on all the machines I have seen, the inside of the soap drawer is the part that does the job. The front does not do much.

Most of them have a child-proof catch, that's also pretty adult-proof.

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I’ve never been able to open the drawer easily and even the repair guys struggle with it! Awful machine will be replacing ASAP (not just for this)

but i need to be able to wash my clothes now without worry or leaks

In my machine the water goes into the drawer compartment, adds with the product in it and goes into the drum.  If the front was off the drawer the water would come out the front.  It would not leak out, it would pour out.

    Hi,
if you can get the drawer out you should be able to fix the front back on, it just 'springs' back into place, have a look here.
If any of the wee tabs have broken you may be able to tape the front on to allow you to use the machine meantime.
