I had it before where i purchased 3 garden loppers from same seller in one order. Only 2 arrived in parcel, nowhere was opened on the parcel and i wrote to seller but got no reply, they had clearly only sent two. I asked seller to check weights etc but they just kept ignoring me. Then eventually the time passed. So i try not to order multiples now for that reason.1

I've put in a claim to Royal Mail although when doing it, I just realised how ridiculous the whole story sounded. Why would a buyer accept a signed for parcel if it was completely opened? The photo she sent me was of the parcel without one end of it on and that's supposedly how it was delivered. Hmmm! Why would someone leave in some tubes and pinch the rest? Surely they would have just swiped the lot.
Let's see what happens.
Hope you are all keeping well, stay safe.0 -
Did you put all six loose in the jiffy bag?
Fairly common for such items to wear their way through jiffy bags in transit1 -
No, they were wrapped up in tissue paper. OK, not exactly strong but I sold some more of these previously and there were no issues then.0

People need to get the idea that parcels are handled many times in massive numbers and need to be packaged agordingly.
Think your jiffy bag and tissue is strong if jammed between 2 2kg packets as someone tries to grab it out a large trolley?
Just one example.
Every shift in mail centres they have multiple items left over found in the bottom of containers that have fallen out of packages1 -
No, I completely get you. I have seen photos of how the parcels are handled and shoved into huge cages and squashed and what not.
What I don't get is why RM would deliver a parcel completely open and ask the buyer to sign for it? Normally, they shove them into those see through packets and put a note on. This buyer even said she has had this happen a few times in the past but not this time. Also, why would someone sign for something that is opened up? I would just refuse to accept it.0 -

Its easy not to notice a damaged parcel on delivery0 -
So Royal Mail have declined compensation. They told me I should have put it in a box. I find it strange that their website says items should be sent in padded envelopes. The email I received said "if the item was damaged, we would have placed it in a Royal Mail bag" but this was not the case, so would they have delivered an open parcel anyway? (Isn't this a way to defraud sellers if someone was this way inclined? Order multiples of items, rip open parcel and say it was delivered like this with half contents missing. Ask for a partial refund. Rinse and repeat).
Just one question for my own records, if you purchased an item which was sent in a parcel but the parcel was delivered completely open and you could see only a few items in there, would you be obliged to sign for it or would you be able to refuse it?0 -

Plus 1.
I don't notice damaged parcels as we receive a huge amount of mail - buisness - the amount of times we've had the envelope with a slit in because the sender thought it was ok to send a key in the post in a plain envelope! Letters get sorted by machinery, things are forced right out of the packaging if there isn't sufficient protection and the receiver is left with an envelope that looks perfectly fine which only on close inspection shows a 1inch slit in the top/bottom corner.1
