Can I get my deposit back on an item who’s delivery has been delayed due to Covid-19?

What does it say in your contract about reasonable delays, forces majeures, etc?dksf said:I have the same question. I put over £3k deposit on a garden building with a specific delivery date of 14th April. I had to do both tree and ground works prior to delivery. The company have told me that the order has been delayed. I really need my deposit back. How can they keep it when they know they cannot deliver?

It says that they are not responsible for delays outside their control. Fair enough. I don't expect compensation. But I am not repsonsible for the delays either. They say that if they don't deliver within eight weeks of the agreed date then I have the right to cancel the contract. But they are saying that this doesn't apply. It could be months and months. They will nto answer me. I cannot see how they can keep my money knowing they will not supply the product.0

How do you know they will not supply the product once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted?dksf said:I cannot see how they can keep my money knowing they will not supply the product.

I don't think you have an argument in the current circumstances then. Things are effectively paused and you'll need to be patient.dksf said:It says that they are not responsible for delays outside their control. Fair enough. I don't expect compensation. Given that the preparatory works have already been done, don't you want the building any more? If you still want it, I cant see any other company doing it any faster than the current contractor.0
