Disneyland paris partial refund

Hello, we unfortunately had to cancel our trip to disneyland scheduled for 1st to 5th april (this sunday). This is because of coronavirus and the parks being closed. I received a confirmation mail on 23rd march confirming full refund- on 24th march I received a sum of money to my bank and 25th march my husband received a sum to his. However, there is still £871 outstanding. I called disney today to be informed that there must be a delay authorising the transaction at my bank, I explained that I believe refunds are electronic and do not require someone at my bank to authorise the money to be deposited in my account. She was adamant it is because the banks are 'busy' hence the delay and some peoples refunds have taken 3 weeks,so I should give that amount of time. It is being refunded per transaction to the bank it was paid e.g. we paid deposit to credit card so deposit will return there, etc. Anyone any advice or clarity please?I dont believe for a second my bank has to authorise money to go into my account, the woman assured me the refund has been processed as 10 transactions. She is based in Florida if this helps.

There really should be a dedicated corona virus board here. The amount of questions about refunds is crazy. In fact there should be a guide as well.

Refunds do not require authorisation by bank or credit card. Love the way retailers always blame the banks for any delay :)
Could it be as they said " It is being refunded per transaction to the bank it was paid " so assume that you paid a deposit and then the balance?
So you have the deposits back, but the balance will follow later.

There is in fact a whole board dedicated to Coronavirus travel-related queries, which probably is a better place for this question.

Anyone else in the Same position? Any advice?I cant get through to my bank but I suspect the problem is Disney's end due to the no doubt massive amounts they are having to refund
  • Hi I am in the same position as you. My refund from Disneyland paris is short by around £500. I have just spoken to Disneyland and I was told the rest is coming, it is the cancellation fee that is owed to me and will take longer than the rest to be refunded.
    Hope that helps

I've just attempted to cancel my trip scheduled for July. Based on the Ts & Cs I expected to lose 15% of booking. Fair enough. However, they are refusing point blank to cancel and instead are offering me a voucher valid for 18 months for full cost. Looks like they have just changed their Ts & Cs although original ones are still up. The lady I spoke to on the phone said the French Govt. are telling them they are not allowed to issue cancellation refunds in the current climate.

If the french Gov are saying that, maybe that's why its taking so long, I emailed them Sunday and they replied saying refunds take up to 15days- I'm now on my 15th day and still missing over £800. Its infuriating, but I don't know if there is anything we can do but wait?

The French have certainly changed the law for hoteliers, allowing them to offer vouchers instead of refunds for pre-booked rooms. It was not intended do far as I am aware to relate to packages but if you booked directly with Disneyland Paris they may be using this as the excuse

Yeah, booked direct with Disney Paris as they had a decent deal on.

We also booked part of our holiday with Eurocamp and they are allowing cancellation, although I am losing my £99 deposit. I'm ok with that to be honest.

Update, I received the remainder of my refund on 8th April, day 16. Would've liked to have rebooked, but was wrongly informed when all this started that i would have to pay £700 extra. Hey ho, grateful for my refund and might look to book for next year. Good luck to everyone still waiting x
