    As I said on your duplicate thread elsewhere on the forum;
babybumpni said:  Do you have any experience of reclaiming through Amazon - any help gratefully received?
You are not "reclaiming" though, you are hoping for a goodwill gesture from Amazon. Any thought of a full refund is  futile and to even get a small partial refund will be a win for your Dad.  The rest will be down to you (or him) to pay.

Ensure your Dad enables Parental Controls on his account, as well as protecting his password in future.

I would add that I hope you and/or your son is arranging to repay him?

Why have you posted this twice in different forums?

Time to remove the temptation from said son. Work out just how exactly they are going to pay your father back. Regardless of any refunds from Amazon.
How did they get login details?
As above, just how old is said son? As this can make a difference to how Amazon deal with it. But any decision they make is up to them and nothing you can do.

Companies have been known to refund in situations like this, but this is entirely down to the company. All you can do is explain the situation and see what they say, but be prepared that the money won't get refunded. Maybe it is time for some parental locks?

You haven't said how old your son is but he should really be the one repaying this. This should not be coming from your elderly father's pocket and I hope you have made it clear to him that he won't have to pay so he doesn't need to stress out about that in the middle of all this. I hope you are all safe and staying indoors, best of luck x

You could try contacting your credit card provider? After all these were unauthorised purchases.

There are parental settings you can turn on to restrict in-app purchases for future.

I'm not sure I agree with others it is totally up to Amazon's good will. Amazon could easily restrict excessive amounts from being spent but decided not to, so they have to accept the risk of paying refunds in cases like this. Amazon have been taken to court in similar cases and ordered to pay refunds in the past: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-37954308.

I'm not convinced they'd be viewed as "unauthorised" if the cardholder hasn't taken reasonable steps to secure their card details e.g. by not letting somebody else use their account after they've logged in with their payment details.

As someone who deals with this type of call, on a all to frequent basis.
As soon as the situation is explained. The only advice you will get is you have to resolve with Amazon.
In effect they are authorised as permission must have been given to access the account to make the original purchase. After that they will all be in app purchases and as stated, it is up to the account holder to make sure that parental controls are in place,.

A lot is going to depend on the age of the offender.

He is 7.  We have all the appropriate parental blocks on our equipment but as my dad was looking after him after school for a couple of hours, this is when it happened.   How anyone can charge £99.99 for something virtual is beyond me... some of them were £1.99 transactions hit repeatedly from the looks of things...

This is what we found when we went back.  Dad didn't have a clue.  It was only when my sister went into his Amazon account to check a purchase for him she noticed...we contacted Amazon but their phone lines are down.  We spoke to a bot then customer assistant virtually and are waiting for a response...surely this would be classed/flagged  as unusual activity on an account of a 72 year old?  The most recent ones are the mopst concerning!
