About BT fon wi-fi.

Hi
When I check for wi-fi with my Android smartphone it shows that BT fon wi-fi is available.
The price seems to range from £4.99 per hour to £39 per month for non-BT customers.
At present I'm using Three 3-2-1 PAYG tarrif.
This is OK for my small internet browsing use.

I download podcasts with public wi-fi in the town library.
But just now all the libraries are shut down because of COVID-19, and I agree with this policy.
Though the podcasts are going to work out expensive.

Is this BT fon wi-fi "free" to use for BT customers?
And if so, is it a matter of finding somebody with a BT email address and password so that I can use it too for the duration?
(for free!)

Yes , it's free for the main BT account holder.
Download the BT WiFi app , put in your ( or a BT account holders details ) . Once set up the password is not visible to anybody else and the app does not give you access to the by customer accountEx forum ambassador

Maybe I will need to go knocking on the neighbours' doors to beg!Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -
Well, I don't know anybody that uses BT as their ISP.And I'm not knocking on any doors during a pandemic. Now that I've read about this BT fon thing I realize it's not what I want or need.Messing about installing a silly app.It seems to be for BT customers so that they can use BT hotspots when they are out and about. The eye-watering fon prices for non-BT customers are to take advantage of gullible people. The ones that haven't twigged there are lots of other hotspots that are free to use.Though maybe the download speeds are higher with BT hotspots than with those other free ones in supermarkets etc.But download speeds aren't important anyway in a supermarket. We're only supposed to be browsing there casually, not downloading files or streaming Netflix. The library wi-fi is certainly good enough for downloading podcasts and updating apps.My neighbour across the road has given me her VM router password to use for the duration. This afternoon I sat on the garden wall and downloaded a weeks supply of podcasts. It's not an ideal solution but it will do for now. When it's all over I will say it with flowers - or a very big bar of chocolate.Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0

Not a "silly app." for BT customers such as me though!Anyone "gullible" enough to pay as a non BT customer really should take a reality check.0
