Eon Smart Meter Stopped Connecting -Power Cut
Hi
Had a new smart metered installed by Eon about 2 weeks ago.
All was working fine until yesterday morning, until a power cut sometime in the early hours of that morning, which broke the connection.
Now have the message 'Waiting for current data'...
Wondered if there is an easy way to fix this?
Thanks

The device in your house on the sideboard is not a smart meter (its an IHD) it just enables you to remotely read the smart meter which is the thing in the cupboard connected to your gas or leccy supply. Its the thing in the cupboard that sends info to the supplier.
You can still read the meter itself, using it's display in fact I advise you to do so and not rely on the IDH for info as they are frequently wrong. You can try moving the IHD a bit closer to the meter cupboard - mine only works about three meter before it losing it's wireless connection. The IHD is really just a toy it doesn't have any metering function
You should also check your bills and make sure that they are actually using the meter reading and not using estimates - there are a lot of people who have come unstuck because the meter readings haven;t been used by the supplier. Do not leave things to chance - check yourself.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers3 -
Thanks, have just been using to check on usage at time of looking not historical data. Scary to see how much power is used when kettle washing machine and the like is on.
Will move it closer to see if it connects. Its still in same place where engineer left it.

ThanksHello bob99999 and this is a known issue we're working to fix.It happens on some In Home Displays (IHD) installed with SMETS2 smart meters. Much of the problem is down to network issues which are out of our hands to an extent. We're working with the communication provider, IHD manufacturer and the network operator to sort this. It could be a fix can be done remotely and it will help if the IHD is left plugged in as this will allow any remote messages to be picked up.In the meantime, as matelodave says, please try placing the IHD nearer the electricity meter. Also, make sure there are no obstacles blocking the signal and reset the IHD. This has sometimes worked in the past.I didn't have a timeframe before the Coronavirus struck. Now that it has, with reduced staffing levels, we've put back the work we're doing to sort this as we're prioritising emergencies, the vulnerable and keeping customers on supply. We'll be back on it once we come out the other side of the crisis.Don't worry, whilst annoying, this issue won't affect the ability of the meters to automatically send us readings so your bills can be kept accurate. Many thanks for your understanding and patience during these unprecedented times. Stay safe bob99999.Malc

Moved the IHD, to as close as i can get to the meter (other side of the wall) a couple of days ago, still have same message.
Initially thought might be able to reconnect by pressing buttons either on panel or meters but appears not.
Oh well will wait and see.
Thanks for replying as didn't want bother EON direct, at this time.

Hi apart from the IHD not working for some reason the Gas SM recorded last month but not the Electric, I thought the gas meter being battery reports to the electric meter which in turn sends both off on a monthly basis via Vodafone ?There are more questions than answers :shhh: :silenced:WARNING !
