Clarity credit card in a positive balance - cannot get through to Halifax?

Hello
After cancelling all our booked holidays due to Covid-19, I've started receiving refunds onto cards I used to make bookings. One of the bookings was on our Halifax Clarity Mastercard and the refund has now taken this card into a positive balance. Is this against the terms and conditions of the card? Would they normally agree to transfer the credit to a current account? Additionally, Halifax seem to have closed their phone lines - I cannot get through to anything other than a voice message that says that they can't take calls today.

Isn't there a secure message facility with online banking? A positive balance as a result of a refund will usually be transferred to a bank account for you but you will have to request this.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

I am also due to be refunded on my Amex due to holiday cancellations. I only ever use it for day to day expenses and pay off in full so this will take me into credit.
This has happened in the past and they had no issues in transferring it to my current account. Just concerned in this climate it is near impossible to get someone on the phone but as MallyGirl says, you can always message/ email them. Assuming it will take a lot longer though to get a response/ get it actioned but that's life at the moment sadly.0 -
It will get picked up at some point. As it against T/C so should be auto flag. They will transfer to the account that pays the bills.
Other option is to use card in the mean time.
Halifax does not have secure msg facility.Life in the slow lane0 -

Either way, you definitely will not get in trouble because of it so there's no rush to sort it out. If you want the money ASAP then you can go and take it out an ATM (or branch counter) with no fees.0 -
Halifax has a live chat in the app, if you have a smartphone you can use.0

Thank you for this thread. I will have the same problem with a Capital One card. Ticketmaster are refunding tickets for cancelled events and I always pay in full by direct debit, so the card is fully in credit. Do all companies automatically refund to the account that the DD comes out of? If so does it mean I don’t have to do anything/let them know it will go over credit? It is not as though we are using them at present, so I would not be needing to take money from the card.Paddle No 21:wave:0

I have a Halifax clarity card and went into positive credit as I stupidly paid my bill twice, as it was only £130 I used it for my grocery shopping. When I asked the question I was informed that Halifax and Lloyd's need to be instructed to refund as they don't do it automatically like other credit providers.

Hi all,I just had a five minute text conversation with AMEX and all the refunds I have received have now been transferred to my current account. No issue at all. Thought you might like to know😀
Dead easy to do!
Thank you.0 -
Halifax clarity never used to do anything with a positive balance for months
I would visit a branch teller and ask too have it transferred .0 -
