you don't receive redundancy until you've worked for company for 2 years0

I left my job on 28 February (after working my notice) but I didn't have another job to go to. I was out of work for around 5 weeks so I took on a new role a week ago, just to keep things ticking over which would just pay my rent. If my previous company agrees can they furlough me as I was still on their PAYE payroll as at 28 February? If they agreed I would hand in my notice at the new employment but would there be any implications with the weeks work I just completed?0

I left my position with Costa Coffee on March 18th for a new position that started on 24th March. Because I fall into the gap I will not be furloughed by my current employer. Costa will not rehire me, this was there response to my email.
'As a business companywide decision, we will not be re-hiring any team members who resigned from their roles and left the business.'
Where do I stand? What can I do?

Any help welcomed..
Partner was given letter ftidat20th March saying he was no longer needed at work due to present circumstances.
Job Retention has since been set up... His employees will not furlough him. . Is there anyway round this?0 -
Made redundant from a large organisation due to company relocation on the 6th March and my redundancy payment and payment in lieu of notice paid on 25th March. The company has contacted me yesterday (2nd April) to ask if I wanted to be put on furlough. Don't know why they have 'offered' this as I wasn't made redundant due to Covid-19. Is this something I should consider or is this only to benefit my former employer, as I don't understand why they would offer this out of the blue ?
Thanks.0 -
Maybe you could try getting a job and one of the supermarkets? They are taking on staff at the moment.Natasha_Teas said:I left my position with Costa Coffee on March 18th for a new position that started on 24th March. Or apply for Universal Credit or New Style Jobseekers Allowance if you have enough National Insurance credits."All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well."

There is no entitlement to be included in the Job Retention Scheme and be furloughed. It is at the employer's discretion."All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well."

I have worked and was employed with a house building company for 22 years. I left as felt unhappy in work place and went to another house building company .I was advised to subcontract at this time . I have been subcontracting for 7 months until last week when all the subcontractors were sent home due to caronavirus and finished. What am I entitled to ???I don’t get universal credit as have savings (which I have struggled to save over many years)
I won’t get any support from the government grant system either. My wife works part time for the NHS and her wages will not cover the bills .Any advice please .0 -
I work for a large retailer what sells food clothing and home, i currently work in there bureau where ive worked for 5 years. I took 2 weeks unpaid as due to underlining asthma and other health problems felt vulnerable and at risk. When i saw all over the media of their 15 percent pay rise and the option to volunteer for furlough if you have underlining health or childcare problems i rung to get on the scheme. I have been told the store manager has decided im not allowed to apply for the scheme and to take two more weeks unpaid then come back to work i have a child which i want to keep off as he has asthma and hay-fever and believe he has high risk due to previous hospitalizations, im at the end of my savings and dont know what to do these companies are making up there own rules.. Can somebody please help as the worry is making me ill ive slept 6 hours in 3 days 😢0
