Welcome Marion - all very welcome to join in here!
And yes - this thread definitely acts as great inspiration - remember a while ago when half the thread ended up eating fish pie one week because one person had made one?!
My week seems to be trotting along pretty much to plan - the small portion of mince was used in stir fry last night with a sauce made from home made gooseberry ketchup and seasoned rice wine vinegar - had quite a nice sharp/sweet and sour type edge to it which was tasty!
I have remembered to get the ragu out of the freezer for this evening as well - we'll have it with rice I think having already had pasta once this week.
I currently have a Friday evening dilemma - we'd been planning a cheeky trip to the chinese takeaway after MrEH's rugby match, but I'm none so sure that will work when I come to think about it as theoretically he should be getting a match tea after the game...which I *may* have an option to eat as well (as photographer, I sometimes do if there are spare token available but that depends on number of players participating) We won't know whether a) there will be food at all and b) what it will be until the time though, which means I need a plan B in case a) there is nothing and b) it's not very nice/substantial!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Disappointingly I found that one of the plastic boxes of lentils had fractured round the rim, and when touching the surface of the lentils I realised there were (almost invisible) shards of plastic in there, so the whole box must be binned. Yesterday, being a work from home day resulted in two meals being reversed pla ned from what was in the house.
Lunch was a bowl of chicken, veg and noodle soup, using up some of that posh bone broth from the other nights 0li0 haul.
Dinner was baked chicken breast barded with streaky bacon, smashed oven baked potatoes and a bit of leftover caulicheese from Monday.
Today the vague meal plan says mince but tbh, being the last day of work until January, I might just raid the almost full dining out budget pot and we can celebrate with a real takeaway!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Last night it was bolognaise sauce from freezer with cupboard store pasta. Today I’m making some veg soup, trying to use up fresh food before leaving in Saturday to visit family over festive season. Had 4 boxes of strawberries from Olio which made two jars of strawberry jam.3

The meal plan for today had a big question mark on it - so we have gone with a frittata to use up the remaining eggs - I will need to buy more as I'll want one handy for egg washing pastry over the next couple of days. That will also use the last of the slightly soft mushrooms as well, plus some of a pack of bacon which will also be going in to sausage rolls/wrapped around pigs in blankets.
I do have to declare some carrots which have gone properly past their best and will be winging their way to the compost. I find it really difficult to use them up as it's only me that eats them in any quantity at all - at least they will compost though!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

An easy Christmas dinner for us today! Everything needed cooking from frozen, apart from the green veg which were boiled on the hob. Now to just relax with a glass or two!4

Phew! It really doesn't matter how many you are catering for, Christmas dinner is a big roast, just because it isn't worth having a tiny turkey if you are having one, in my opinion. Our 5.2k woodland free-roaming turkey was just fab and five of us (one late addition on the day) shared one breast! I have to take some today, plus a jar of HM pickled onions. The rest will be processed to be salad, sandwiches, curry, pie, soup and maybe nuggets (in my own breadcrumbs). I only used half the blini mix and half a pack each of prawns and smoked salmon. All the chestnut stuffing, pigs and devils have gone, along with the leftover roast potatoes and parsnips. one small bowl of cold veg will make soup.
I love leftovers at least as much as the Christmas dinner itself (hence the reference to a decent sized bird if we are having turkey). Enjoy the break everyoneSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
