Last year we went through what felt like a glut of purple veg in our box!  Keep in mind that your cauli-mac will be an interesting shake of pink, as will the cauli-rice

...and a definite vote for bacon bits making all things veg just that little bit tastier!  The OH doesn't even notice our veg heavy meals when there are fried lardons stirred through!

Tonight's dinner in lieu of take-away will be pickety bits - Spanish meats, soft cheese, crackers, olives, cucumber, tomatoes, apples & grapes.  Most already in the fridge/stores, except for the grapes which arrive in today's weekly shop.

Having successfully cut 25% off the grocery budget in November, we are going to try for a frugal December & January in the food department, pinching some more pennies in preparation for the electric/gas hike that will hit in the spring.  Our only planned splurge is a Christmas week organic chicken & organic veg box which should do us for at least half of the week, if not more.

An eclectic mix of leftovers for lunch - we shared baked beans, a small piece of toad (one chipolata each) and the last third of the cauliflower and macaroni cheese. It was a bit weird but it cleared the decks. For supper we had poached eggs on the last of the bought toast bread. I will have to shop soon, I have run out of baked beans :/

Lunch today is some more cauliflower cheese soup from the freezer and then dinner is going to be a jacket potato because I can't be bothered 😆  Tomorrow we're having lasagne for dinner, again from the freezer and that should leave one freezer meal left to be used up next week.  Then I can actually rearrange things properly in there because it's all just shoved in randomly at the moment and I have to pray the door shuts every time I open it.

Cauli-mac-cheese for dinner and jacket potatoes for lunch.

Next week I'll be following a 5-day vegan eating plan so planning will be much easier, just might need to adapt some recipes to use up veg from the fridge.  Will just be OH to plan for.

Lots of stuff from the freezer this week as we're off to France on Thursday.

Today pea & ham soup for lunch; beef stew for dinner.
    Tomorrow roast chicken.

Will be more stuff over the following few days too!

Last night's dinner was sausages in brioche with fried peppers and onions, followed up by a piece of chocolate fudge cake we'd stashed away in the freezer.

Plans for today involve a couple of freezer dives for bagels and chipolatas for breakfast and thai green curry ingredients for dinner. We've done well this week sticking to the meal plan!

Some nice food and interesting sounding plans with you lot!

Nothing much to report here - I’ve finally had to give in and accept that the cold I’ve been fighting off for weeks has come and got me. Went out yesterday, but feeling a bit grim, meeting up with lots of pals we’d not seen in an age though, plus a plentiful amount of beer helped - didn’t help so much this morning though - today has been a “I’ll just have a slice of toast” sort of day, once I felt confident that anything I decided to “put in” was going to “stay in”!  As a result of this I’m switching tea tonight from the planned cheese, biscuits, chutney etc (possibly a little rich for a still slightly uncertain tummy) to jacket potatoes with beans and cheese.

I have next week’s meal plan done - planned largely around a combination of freezer stuff and the veg box which arrives tonight and may or may not contain substitutes. I’ve opted out of carrots as we use very few and we got some (lovely yellow ones) last time - I’m hoping they sub for onions, but we’ll see.

We’re a whisker away from being able to get freezer two turned off and defrosted…

Morning all.  Sorry to hear you're feeling under the weather @EssexHebridean hope you start feeling better soon.

Our freezer is well and truly rammed full of food for Christmas now.  Only things we need to get are the veg, eggs and cream and then we're done.  So this week's plan is to try and get the non-christmas stuff out of the freezer just to give us some room!  Starting with the last portion of cauliflower cheese soup for lunch today and then dinner is homity pie which will use up the leftover leeks from last week plus peas and some frozen veggie sausages.
