Suffolk_lass said:We had freezer surprise (turned out to be chilli) with veg curry and beef stew left-overs yesterday - an eclectic but rather yummy mixture that should no-way have worked! - you know that thing in your fridge where it's been taken over by bitsa; bitsa this, bitsa that - well that's my fridge. I blame the outdoor fridge freezer being on its last legs - desperately limping on until Sunday4

@marionmgcars Someone on here said if you insulate behind the one outside (even cardboard) would make a difference. We are putting the replacement in the toolshed with cardboard inner walls (very MSE) - The one we are recycling is over 16 and the shelf hanger moulded plastic is breaking up and brittle, and a lot of the plastic shelf sides and fronts are missing bits where they have snapped off (and it has green algae spreading down one side - the shame) so I am not regretting the decision to replace it. The new one is a Beko and supposed to be able to cope in an outbuilding.
We shall be having eggs today. Lots of eggs (I have three dozen as my friend usually has half a dozen every couple of weeks but have not seen her since this phase of lockdown, except on a video call) - I think 2-3 each for breakfast and 7-8 for supper as a fridge veg fritattaSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

@Suffolk_lass & @Mrs_Cheshire - OH just presented me with this recipe as his contribution to our weekly meal plan
- fulfills our meatless Monday dinner (eggs count towards meatless in our house - LOL - gets the OH participating in the less meat & more veg game)

Reverse planned dinner tonight from the freezer and store-cupboard. Leftover veggie curry from last week, chicken thighs cooked in a simple soy & spring onion marinade and steamed jasmine rice. Only 40 minutes from start of prepping to having it on the plate & most of that was defrosting time in the microwave for the curry & chicken.4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Change of plan for lunch today! Was just going to have a tuna and cucumber sandwich but decided it's so cold we need something warming so a leek and barley soup lifted from the freezer.
