Morning folks. It's sunny outside, just to rub our faces in it! I'm longing to be out in it, I'm a morning person by nature though not I can't leave the house whilst DM is asleep. She gets very anxious very easily these days.Yesterday DM decided to get dressed then needed to rest for an hour, then she sat at the kitchen table chopping leeks and carrots for soup. I really applaud the effort she makes even though she shouldn't! She spent the rest of the day feeling so bad I don't think it was worth it.I tried to get a decorator for the dining room, no joy. Seems that a lot will only work on empty properties just now. I'd love to support a local business even a little bit. Once this is all over I bet there'll be a long wait. ☹️Today I hope to have a walk around the block. Monthly banking can wait until tomorrow. I have books to read. Now it's time for action, stay safe my friends. Happy Wednesday to all.10

Morning all
Bright and sunny here again although its very cold with a sharp wind, we get blown around the field when we take the dog out !
The hospital rang yesterday, my big op has been cancelled
I was expecting it tbh, what they will now do it take me in on the 30th as planned and remove the cancer from the left breast and lymph nodes this will be a day surgery and they will get me in and out ASAP in a sterile separate unit, the right side will be left for now as its full of pre cancerous cells which they have said can wait for a few months, I did ask if I could wait and have both ops done at once at a later date but she said no the cancer would have grown too much and I would not be strong enough to have the op by then, I will be having no chemo or radio at all at the moment as this will compromise my immune system far too much and leave me open to this dratted virus. At a later date I shall go in for the double mastectomy and recon but not until this whole thing is over so more waiting but I completely understand why they have done it, god bless the NHS !
Much excitement today we have borrowed a power washer and will do the patio and front drive over the next couple of days, its something different to do and the patio is desperate for it.
We have managed to get a click and collect from sainsburys tomorrow and have got the in laws and my mum some bits with it as well so will be all stocked up again.
Nels and anyone else with Netflix, you MUST watch Unorthodox absolutely brilliant story about a young Jewish girl who escapes the closed community she is bought up in, its a really moving series only five episodes well worth a watch.
Have good days all and stay safe xx13 -
Oh ruby I am so sorry whilst I am sure they will do the right thing for current times this must be so disappointing for you and your family to just prolong the whole thing. This vile virus is causing so many knock on effects. Sending all my love as always xx12

What a shame RR, though understandable. At least they have a plan B for you and then will scoop you up quickly afterwards. One of my neighbours had eye lense replacement surgery just before the crisis - two operations one week apart (one eye each week). She was fortunate in that her second op was two days before lockdown, there are patients out there with one eye done and the other not! Sounds dreadful.DM has woken and the sun has gone in again. Maybe the world is telling me that DM is my sunshine??
I've been watching Gary Barlow's 'crooner' videos this morning which made me smile.12 -
Ruby, what a bu88er, but I suppose you were half expecting it. I'm full of admiration for your positivity, go you.
So far Crystal seems to have very mild symptoms thankfully. Chris is champing at the bit because he doesn't like working from home but he knows there is nothing he can do about it. I wish they would get the anti-body test they are talking about so that people could sart getting back to work and stop self-isolating.
We've got to go to hospital today for Steve's blood tests so we've been planning the way we can do it with minimal exposure for him. I shall stay in the car so that I can drop him off and pick him up as close to the entrance as possible. We have been told that the dept is very quiet and they have more phlebotomists on so there is minimal waiting times. Fingers crossed it all goes to plan. Then back tomorrow for the treatment.
We're still trying to get on the lists for SM ordering, we'll see what today brings.12 -
I hope you're OK RR but at least you know now. The worry and danger for you to have an op at this time would be too much.
Enjoy that power washing, I love it!11 -
Morning all, dull today.I don't seem to get on to post as often with DH being at home. I keep trying to find little jobs for him but he always has the excuse that he doesn't have the right stuff.Dp1 hope the little one is better soon.RRuby, sorry to hear about the op but at least they're still doing the left side, you seem to have been waiting a while for that anyway. Keep positive xxSnoozer hope C soon gets over the virus.Monnagran I like your thoughts of the day
I managed to edit my sm order due tomorrow to put some bird seed on, I'm fast running out and they are flocking to it right now, one of the little pleasures at the moment
This is the last delivery of my prebooked ones. I've had home delivery for the last 2 years and tend to book as soon as 1 has been dropped off otherwise I forget. No chance of any more atm so I was trying to think of items that would last us a bit longer eg, got a gammon joint which usually have a long shelf life, so I can cook that and slice thinly - the menfolk go through lots for lunchtimes especially now everyone is at home.Making sure nothing is wasted, so beef and veg soup today.I suppose I'd better go and do something useful......must I? Go on then another cuppa first! Take care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)13 -
Morning all, it's a grey day here..... back to normal then. I admit the bits of sun do affect my moods as I was quite productive yesterday and even the freezer re-jigs happened. It was hindered by Mr Fix It who wanted to help (?). I emptied them and he sat in the lounge with the laptop, altering anything that needed to be altered. That was fine, but I was nearly hoarse by the end from shouting from one room to the other ! ( and I was stupid enough to put up with it )As it is April Fools Day, DD and SiL had our DGS a doozy this morning. They told him the Fortnite game he plays with Mr Fix It was going to be cancelled. Cue him calling Mr Fix It who was also in on it ! Kept it going for quite a few hours but I don't think DGS bought it completely. They are such a cruel lot !Today I think we are back to the mask making, we have successfully completed one mask and a visor, now we need another mask for me. If there are any sewers ( people who sew I mean, not the drains
) there is a tutorial on Utube by Leah Day which is very good. We need the masks for when Mr Fix It has his oncology injection appointment next week.Tea will be the last of the gammon in an omelette. I've never made one gammon joint go so far and I'm going to try to do it when things go back to normal, whenever that may be. Should save a few pennies and zero waste...... happy days.RedRuby I'm so sorry they have cancelled the big op, but I think they made a good call considering the circumstances.Monna you crack me up ! Thank you for being you, you make me laugh out loud almost daily. Change the 7 years gym to 17 and that's more me, unless you count watching the DGS swimming ( and by video link
)Snoozer good luck to Steve at the hospital today. Good idea to stay in the car too.AOD Mr Fix it always tells the DGS that he's digging up the patio for me to join his other wives who didn't do as they're told
Think it would be me digging for him first ! BTW I'm his one and only wife and the DGS is always on my side, bless him. taff don't think you should mention the captains log...... you'll only chop it up and make something from it !TA I want ginger biscuits now, how dare you mention them
!Nelski same goes for the risotto.... damn you I'll have to look up the recipe and try it
Camelot I had visions of you walking backwards when you said you did the route the other way round ! I even thought that's clever til I twigged what you were actually doing. I'm so thick !!Cranky I haven't touched my baking cupboard either. Looks like I'm going to have to now, thanks to Nels and TA !!Have you noticed I'm procrastinating ? Oh well it's onto the mask making. I love sewing but I get pushed out of the driving seat by himself, seems he's found his inner seamstressness ! Why can't it be done blue peter like " And here's one I made earlier "
Take care and stay safe all. Hug to anyone in need for any reason........ or just because you want one.nan xx
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently14 -
Hi everyone
I walked down to my mam and dads this morning - they were right at the back of the garage and I was at the doorway. It's quite handy that they have an old armchair in there waiting to go on the sales page! It was a bit chilly but we had a nice chat with at least 12 feet between us. This is all starting to affect my dad's dementia - he is missing seeing people and keeps forgetting that no one is allowed to go out. My older brother thinks we shouldn't be even doing this but I don't think it's putting ourselves at any risk. What do you all think? I don't stay more than about half an hour - I know if I stayed too long I would need a pee before I walked home!
Little grand daughter was tested for virus and doesn't have it so she was moved to her own room on a ward. She's having more blood tests today. DD can leave the ward if she has to, but she has decided not to as they are now providing the parents with meals on the ward.
Had a panic yesterday as didn't see youngest cat since Monday night. l walked up and down the hill looking in the grass at the side of the road in case he'd been hit by a car, but nothing. Told DDs - eldest in Sweden in tears on the phone. This morning I was opening the curtains in the front bedroom....and out he walked from under the bed! God knows where he'd been!
Well I'm going to move myself and find something useful to do. I'm busy sorting boxes and paperwork in my bedroom. I did clean the crumbs out of my toaster this morning!
Take care everyone

That' such good news DP1 times two!I've been out for a walk though cut it short as the wind was biting. As I passed a neighbourhood 'meadow' I decided to go through it as it made the walk a little shorter for me. I ended up in a couple of streets I hadn't been to before, discovered three old schools only one of which I knew about.. One is now a college campus, one is being converted into housing and one seems to for primary children who require 'additional educational, medical and therapeutic input'. Lovely old Victorian red sandstone buildings. A brand new primary was in the middle of being built, all stopped for now.On the way back I decided to start to empty the boot of my car! There's so much 'stuff' in it, the MOT is due at the end of April so I need to have it clear for then.Had to pause - my car alarm was going off like mad so I've been downstairs again to shut it off. Usually I can beep it from upstairs but it wasn't working this time, I had to open the doors manually before I could beep! Silver lining was meeting the new downstairs neighbours.Must be time for a coffee. I have an online meeting to 'attend' at 3pm for my very very part time job, I suspect that everyone will be furloughed. It won't be bad for me although I feel for the full time staff (if that's what's happening!).
