This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about
everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great,
inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old
Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already.
Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check
the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style
natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.

Good morning, and thanks for starting off TaffSeems grey and damp out there this morning. We went for a walk yesterday, just round the outskirts of the town, there's hardly anyone about so we were in no danger. I think that was the highlight of our day! I remembered that there were some jigsaws in the landing cupboard so I dug them out and DH forund a bit of wood which he is rejuvenating so we can use it for the jigsaws.Apart from the usual jobs that was it for yesterday, I kept thinking it was Wednesday though.Snoozer sorry to hear about Chrystal - I hope she doesn't have it badly.AOD, I'm just getting a spade out of the shed then I'll pop over to lend a hand with the patioGers, you must miss your own home, no wonder you feel a bit bleurgh sometimes.Hope Dgd is doing ok DP1I liked your definition of marriage Monnagran, so true, it made me laugh..Well I'll stop maundering on, I'm not going to get my arris into gear yet, I'll diddle around on the internet for a whileTake care folks, hope everyone has as good a day as possible13

Morning everyone
taff - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light and dry underfoot, cloudy though.
DH watching catchup tv, DS1 still in his pit and I'm bathed, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
DInner last night was pork loins, mash, veg, LO cauli/broc cheese and LO yorkshires. Tonight we may have fish - but I need to get essential supplies for both sets of parents so will be getting those and dropping those onto their doorsteps en route home.
Yesterday work was steady again, I expect that today will be busy as it's the 1st and there will still be an element of people who won't expect the offices to be shut.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all! No, I can't believe I'm up this early either....That's the wages of sin...go to bed early, get up early....
Notning much to report. Garden is more dug, there's an awful lot of bindweed roots in this bit, I have to break each clod [ no, not me, the earth...] into bits by hand to find all the twisty turny roots. On the plus side, all the grass turves have been filling up the pole hole nicely so that's nearly full now. OH has used up the rest of the black paint left over to paint the bench. Unfortunately, it's going to be a bit of a two tone thing for now because there wasn't quite enough to paint the back rest so dark brown it is! All logs scewed nicely. Garden update complete captains log...
Not much else going on. My auntie has been moved to a hospital nearer home which we are all very happy about because it's got a much better reputation than the one she came out of. Still no visiting but they say she is sitting up and eating. Woop!
On that happy note, I'll end there for this morning...Happy thoughts for happy people and not so happy people, people testing the sharpness of their kitchen knives, people who need a 2mtr far away hug, people who are being sorely tested by life situations....Wispy Wednesday...

Morning everyone, yesterday we had lovely sunshine but today is rather dull. Not actually raining though so that's a plus.
Dependent on the weather I will or wont carry on digging over a border, it is hard work as infested with couch grass.
Oh lucky me, more ironing.
Hope everyone is well.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back14 -
Morning folks and thanks TAFF for starting us off. Another overcast start here but no rain expected.
Plan A (the big move 'n' clean in my bedroom) never happened yesterday. Instead more messing about was done, but I did at least do my bit of ironing! And had an unexpected little outdoor meet up with DD and youngest DGD! They had walked up to the post box and detoured here on their way home. We sat on the front wall either side of the drive, so a lot more than the distancing rule allows.. It was a bit nippy but lovely to have a face to face little chat which lifted my spirits.
After watching Celeb Bake Off last night I am obsessed by a longing for ginger biscuits, which they all seemed to be making! Much restraint will be needed to leave the baking ingredients in the cupboard as eating a whole batch of them myself wouldn't do me any good!
Have a good day folks and, as usual, a vast number of (((HUGS))) all round. Thinking as always of our brave poorlies and mending as it's bad enough just trying to keep the spirit up without health problems as well. Take care one and all; and stay safe xx

Morning campers
Thats me normally Taff often in bed for 9 but then wide awake by 4 tried going to bed later but my body clock likes daft o'clock.
Nothing much planned again so need to plan something once I am feeling motivated (by a week next weds probably} My lawn man is due today not sure if he's working its vague if gardeners can but if he is it will be nice to get the back garden done before it becomes a scene from honey I shrunk the kids. I'll leave his money outside obviously so zero contact.
Made Jamie's risotto yesterday and it was so good worth a go if you have the ingredients... there would be easily enough for a freezer portion but I suspect it will be brunch instead ....strange eating habits at the moment!
Rubes any news about the op yet?
Have a good day all keep smiling x

Morning all.
ADO, did you have to mention ironing? I have a pile that glares at me reproachfully every time I pass it and I've successfully managed to ignore it up till now. Maybe today. Maybe not.
You all put me to shame with stories of cleaning, gardening, emulsioning cupboards, (How very dare you TA) and other worthy activities. Apart from my daily Facetime teaching stint with DGD, for which I deserve a round of applause, bouquets and a quick burst of the Hallelujah Chorus, I very successfully waste time. Over the last 8 decades I have honed wasting time to an enviable level.
However, inspired by all the virtuous activity on this thread, today I will be shamed into getting the vacuum cleaner out.
Tomorrow I may even use it.
As far as food goes, I think there is enough leek and potato soup for one more bowlful and after that probably a jacket potato with something. There is grated cheese in the fridge but I've used up all my salad stuff so unless I shred some cabbage, slice some onions, grate some carrots and make some coleslaw it will be baked beans. We will see.
.I hope all the poorlies have a better day and everyone, STAY SAFE.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I can't believe that I forgot to go to the gym this morning. That's 7 years in a row.
ETA, apologies AOD, my tablet thinks it knows better than I do what I want to say. It has decided that you are ADO. I can't fight it.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Morning All
Welcome to groundhog day! I've been for a walk and dropped a bottle off at the glass bank, I just take one at a time, I need a purpose for a walk! I did my usual route but backwards, surprising what new things you see going the other way. A few more people about but we managed to stay away from each other.
Lots of the deck was power washed yesterday, not too much left to do now. It was lovely and warm when the sun came out, we've had a shower or two overnight but it's lovely and bright this morning.
Hope the little one is OK dp1, what a worrying time.
Hoping Chrystal recovers soon snoozer.
Love your comment about the gym monna, that's me to a tee!
Look after yourselves and take care. XX

Good morning all,
The HT claimed to be bored yesterday so I suggested that he do some of his school work. After half an hour of heavy sighs and huffing he found something more interesting to do. We're ok foodwise - the freezer is still full of all sorts of bits and pieces.
I made a sun with a face to go with the rainbow and have hung that in the window too. I managed to successfully avoid house work yesterday by crossing my sister's birthday parcel off my "to do" list then taking it to the post office. Goodness knows when it will get there - we seem to be a bit short of post people just now. Todays things to do are to make macaroni cheese and hoover the stairs. The baking cupboard has survived untouched although my sister cleared hers yesterday....
Take care all of you
