Well after leaving it open for a week I managed to get intouch will my council and have now been informed that it will be done on 16th April so not too long to wait :0)

If your so concerned why don't you pay for a gas check yourself. You can ask the council to refurbish you later. I wouldn't complaint normal people have to pay for this themself. Your getting it free.

I have what appears to be a "Free" gas safety check, but there's a little para in the Service Charges which tells me I pay for it. But don't let any of your prejudices spoil a request for info. ****

Why should this be cancelled? Gas inspections are still going ahead

 I will wait and see,I know the check is required by law every 12 months and my council sets it for a 10 month period so they have until 13th May {when my one was done last year}. As I said in my first I know these are not normal times but I hope that on 17th April I can update and say it has been done for another year {or not} so watch this space. {0)

Well once again after moving all my items to lett the check to be done yesterday afternoon no one came. I have now emailed my council letting them know that until the person arrives on my doorstep I will not move anything so if they have to wait for 30 mins while I sort out then so be it. I am waiting for the reply.

The initial response to your thread (on the 1st April) told you to forget about any checks happening until at least July. 

On the 12th April I told you to expect the "re-arranged " appointment to  similarly  no show, but you said you would "wait and see" 

Do please realise we are in the middle of a national emergency.

 You personally might not be as affected as others. 

People are furloughed or self-isolating. 

People are dying in their thousands every day. 

Please get some perspective on your situation.

 Your Council will be prioritising resources elsewhere. 

If you actually have a gas emergency then someone will attend, if not simply leave your items where they are and wait for things to return to normal. 

Do note that if you ultimately carry out your "threat" not to move anything in readiness in the future, then that subsequent check will not take place either..

Yes in an emergency they will                 if not simply leave your items where they are and wait for things to return to normal...........and let my wife sleep each night until they come sleep on the floor as her bed has to be dismantled each  time,somehow I don't think so
