BEWARE! - Thinking of selling something on Ebay?

I can't see any Warnings?Ebay should make it clear there's a risk of you easily losing your item to a fraudulent Buyer and there's nothing Ebay can do to prevent it or ensure you receive your item/money back.In short, Ebay cannot offer Sellers protection and it's not their fault, however this fact isn't made clear before you list your item for sale.Ebay's Customer Services have admitted to me, verbally and in writing, that this is the case and when I asked why I wasn't warned before listing my item, they just say they can't answer that.0

"Sorry, we are an online platform and we don't have the item in our possession. We cannot compare the item sent by you and the item received by the buyer"

This is like one of those “never use Hermes because they lost my parcel” threads........1

At least it might help prevent someone else from losing an expensive item listed on Ebay, without any chance of getting it back or being reimbursed.By the way, I've used Hermes a lot and think they offer a good service at a reasonable price, I've recommended them to others too. Thanks for adding your comments as it keeps bumping this thread and ensures better exposure.0

Any method of private selling exposes the seller to the risk of being scammed. One can minimise the risks by doing some research before selling (not after). It's simple common sense, rather than expecting somebody else to warn you.

Obviously, as has been demonstarted many times, this is not the case.It needs to made clear to people. If I was using a free classified advert in a newspaper, listing something without a fee on Gumtree or placing a free advert on Facebook Marketplace, then of course I would expect to have to be very careful and protect myself.

Which would be extensive and a box ticking exercise despite you saying you of course wouldnt just tick the box.
Same as you rabbiting on about this thread helping others yada yada, but like yourself they dont go looking till after the fact and post in a forum frequented in the main by experienced ebayers, except those coming to post after the fact.
Remember ebay before paypal?1 -

I didn't say I wanted a list of all possibilities.Obviously, for some unknown reason you've taken offence that I'm trying to make people aware of the risk. You can make as many rude comments about me 'rabbiting on' or 'spouting off' as you like as I'm not really bothered. In fact please keep commenting, as I said before, it keeps bumping this thread and ensures better exposure. Thanks.1300 Views / 60 Replies and counting...
