O2 PAYG phone swap problems

We've been on O2 PAYG original now classic for decades, last time we changed phones about a year ago, admittedly buying the new phones from O2, they did the SIM swop in the shop FOC. That's the easiest way IF you can get to an O2 shop! In our case it was swopping from HTC 1 and iPhone 4 to Samsung Galaxy A10's.

I don't doubt that if I had access to a local O2 shop they would probably solve the problem in minutes. Trying to do the same thing remotely on line when it seems O2 customer services aren't working, is quite a different matter! It could probably be done but only by someone with far more savvy than myself!Telegraph Sam

Is everyone else having the same ongoing problems with any kind of contact whatsoever with O2 as I am experiencing? Obviously one makes allowances in current circumstances but this seems to have hit them harder than many other companies who can provide some kind of a skeleton service nonetheless.Telegraph Sam

Just use a sim cutter.
Your contacts may already be on the sim otherwise input manually.

Call me a chicken if you wish but for someone with zero experience of these things any kind of a "cutter" operation comes over as terminal and non-reversible. There is some question if the micro-SIM that is contained in the larger mini-SIM that I have can in effect be pressed out which would be less drastic. In the interim I am trying a different approach which would involve getting hold of a charging cradle / docking station for a Doro 409 / 410 mobile. Possibly an even more difficult assignment considering that these are by now an endangered species. If anyone knows of one, please shout (loudly)!!Telegraph Sam

Three pretty much shut down their customer support, before eventually bringing back a limited call center.
While this is the unprecedented and i expected service disruption, i didn't expect them to basically shut up shop.
Surely live chat should be available, and that mobile network staff treated as keyworkers?
It's really made me think whether I now have enough confidence in them to stay.0 -
Hi Deleted_User, the second post you sent with details of the eBay man selling Doro charging cradles appears to have failed to link to this thread ("broken link") but I was able to get the details from my email alert. The cradle for the Doro 409 / 410 is not shown as being available but I have messaged him to ask if he can source one. Tks for the tip.Telegraph Sam

If your current SIM appears to have a smaller SIM inset into it that sounds like the solution. Most SIMS nowadays are provided like that, so as to be universal. No cutting needed, just press it out.
Used to be Bogof_Babe. It did need updating!0 -
Telegraph_Sam There is some question if the micro-SIM that is contained in the larger mini-SIM that I have can in effect be pressed out which would be less drastic.
In recent years SIM cards have been supplied as a mini SIM with the two smaller sizes able to be pressed out, so adaptable for any phone just by pressing out the micro or nano size insert that you need. Before nano SIMs became common it was just the micro size insert that could be pressed out.
If you have such a SIM, pressing out the micro size couldn't be simpler, it just pops out perfectly. If O2 eventually provide you with a new SIM you will have to do that anyway, all new SIMs are supplied that way, often known as a 'Tri-SIM'.Evolution, not revolution0 -
The SIM that I have must be ancient since the phone a Doro 409 is ancient. According to Doro the card is a "mini" which they think should be press-out-able to convert into a micro but not for sure. Pity that it seems not to be possible to attach pics to these posts since that would shed light.Telegraph Sam
