I don't think it's greed in any way.  Plenty of people asking about insurance if they were brought back early from a holiday.  We were in a worse position as we were locked in a 16ft x 10ft room 23 hours a day with no balcony and just BBC1 on the TV.
I was asking for advice on whether a claim would have any chance of success
I'm afraid that claiming for costs you would have incurred anyway would be greedy.  What else could it be?
As to a chance of success, you'll have to ask the operator and/or your insurer.  I doubt anyone on here could tell you absolutely what your chances are.  I'll have a guess and say I doubt you'd get anywhere making a claim, but as I suggested earlier, a politely worded request might yield a goodwill voucher towards a future holiday.  Worth a try.

I think we can all think of people in much worse situations right now.
Time to be grateful for what you have.
"I don't want to waste my time making a claim if it's got no chance of success" - how about some NHS volunteer work instead? Perhaps more rewarding for all.
