Hi,
My wife and I went on an All-inclusive holiday with Jet2 Holidays to Lanzarote earlier in the month.  The first week was OK, but for the second week we were confined to our rooms and only allowed out for meals.  The bars and pool were shut and there was no entertainment.  We travelled back on the flight we were due to return on anyway so the holiday wasn't cut short, it was just that we didn't get what we paid for.
Do I have any hope of a claim against Jet2, my travel insurance or the Credit Card I paid with?
Can I claim for additional costs like car parking in the UK, car hire in Lanzarote and Kennel/Cattery costs?
Jet2's website implies that that won't give refunds even if the holiday was cut short

I don't want to waste my time making a claim if it's got no chance of success.

Thanks in anticipation

Hang on a minute. You came back as planned on your scheduled flight yet you want to claim for cattery costs and car parking? Why? You didnt incur any extra costs here!

If you travelled back on the intended flight, how have these additional costs been incurred? These would normally be claimed from travel insurance of you were delayed getting back...was the car parking and kennel/cattery not booked and used for the original planned period?

As above, you can't claim for things you had to pay for anyway.  I don't think you have a valid claim for anything, personally.  You paid for return flights and all-inclusive accommodation and you got it.  Bar and pool are discretionary items and whilst a politely-worded request might get you some goodwill vouchers for a future holiday, you didn't actually suffer a quantifiable loss.  In fact, you spent less because the bar was shut!  Perhaps you owe the resort money?  ;)

This thread is just pure greed. Came back on the same day as originally planned yet wants money back anyway. Disgusting.
  • It's more that we didn't really have a holiday.  If the holiday had been cancelled before we flew I would have been able to reclaim other costs as well as the actual holiday

Questions neatly dodged there. Please explain how you incurred extra car parking and cattery costs if you arrived back in the UK as planned on the same day you were originally meant to.
  • The main question was could I claim for curtailment as we were confined to our room for half the holiday.  The additional costs was just a BTW

But they arent additional costs. You would have incurred them had you a perfectly normal holiday.

You can try and claim anything you like.  Whether it will succeed or not is a different matter.  You should check the terms of your insurance policy to see if anything you encountered makes you eligible for a claim.

    Don't be greedy.
  • I don't think it's greed in any way.  Plenty of people asking about insurance if they were brought back early from a holiday.  We were in a worse position as we were locked in a 16ft x 10ft room 23 hours a day with no balcony and just BBC1 on the TV.
I was asking for advice on whether a claim would have any chance of success
