Hi...where can I check the status of return on gov gateway?...always been able to see whether payment pending etc but can't find it this year 🤔0

Hey Vicky if you go to the main page, scroll down to self assessment then view self assessment for the year you want. When it shows the breakdown I normally click the highlight tax bit and will show you what's going on with it. Such as pending and such.0

Ah if you only done last night you probably won't see anything till tuesday or Wednesday as it runs a day behind I believe and because of the long bank holiday.0

My return has been received by them on the 7th. The same day I sent it. How come some people have to request their money & others don’t. I never had too it just went straight to pending. Is it something to do with bank details on the tax return or do I need to worry 🙈 sorry in advance if this sounds dumb. It’s my first one0

If you complete the return with details of where you want any refund to be sent then you don't have to request it separately.IslaJ said:My return has been received by them on the 7th. I think some people are impatient and the minute their return is processed by HMRC and they see a credit on their account they request a repayment even though it would in all probability be issued anyway within a very short period using the details they entered on their return.
Whether interfering with the normal process delays things or speeds it up is anyone's guess but as you have found there is no need to claim on the return and then through your Self Assessment account as well.2 -
Thank you.0

I'm trying to log into my HMRC self-assessment account, and am constantly blocked by the 2-step verification. It says it's sending a code to my mobile, then never does. I've contacted HMRC and had the number reset, but still..no codes. Can't log in at all. Has anyone else had this problem?
