O/S Daily Monday 30 March 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH watching catchup tv, DS1 still in his pit, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was roast lamb, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, swede, carrots, peas, yorkshires and gravy. Tonight we'll be having smoked sausage and mushroom pasta in creme fraiche sauce - something I haven't cooked for a while.
I'll be getting ready for work in a while, we've been quite busy - I can only see this getting busier.
Keep safe and well x

Morning Everyone,
W/M . Bit cloudy here but hopefully clothes will dry.
A week today since we were placed into lockdown. I have been spending some of my vast amount of spare time looking back at history. 1720,1820,1920, 2020. All Pandemics and every 100 years. It is very interesting that my grandparents went through a pandemic and just after WW1.
I have to visit the PO to post an important letter, so I shall be venturing out early to get back quickly hopefully.
S/C meal tonight. Bit more cleaning. Probably do some of my knitting too.
Take Care and stay safe x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A drab and dismal start here but at least it's fine. Still nippy so the heating is on until the house warms up a bit.
Day 15 of solitary confinement for me. As we were told yesterday it could be 6 months before life is back to normal I wonder how many days in solitary I will have counted up be by then! I just hope summer comes early and we can all at least sit out in the garden.
I have given myself a kick up the arris this morning with a promise that today is the day I will climb out of my rut and do more than just the necessary day to day jobs. Watch this space on that!!
The gammon joint I cooked yesterday was delicious and will feed me well in various different meals for a few days to come. The stock was used to make a pan of my favourite lentil & bacon soup, now bagged up with the rest of my soup stocks in the freezer. Lunches sorted for a good while.
There was just a right commotion outside amongst the bird population. I looked out to see all out war between the resident magpies and a gang of jackdaws. We never see jackdaws up here and the magpies made them less than welcome!
Waffle for this morning now over, coffee finished and breakfast is calling. Have the best day you can folks as things are and ((HUGS)) for all, especially our poorlies and recuperating. Take care all and stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"17 -
Good morning and thank you for the thread nmlc.
Cold here but I've got fluffy socks. Spent much of yesterday fighting sleep so didn't do much, made toad in the hole.
It s so quiet, the binmen have just been by and usually their vehicle noise is part of general noise. Not today, nobody is out and about here. Birds and squirrels are busy though, I have fed them.
I have a very short piece of work to write notes on this morning and then can please myself.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back15 -
Good morning folks. All's well here though it's all a tad boring. It's most odd, feeling well and still not going out, I'm chomping at the bit. ☹️ However, I've got books to read and TV to watch.I tried to get another delivery slot but it seems that vulnerable people are being registered by the Westminster government (via gov.uk) and then given priority access. A really good initiative which only applies to those in England. This means that us in Scotland are locked out of accessing delivery slots! Can't ring the supermarkets as their customer services depts are only taking certain calls.I hope that everyone can stay safe and ride out the storm. Happy Monday to all.13

Morning all, the sun is shining at the moment, but it's still only 1 degree....... brrr !I've been up since silly o'clock worrying about Dad. Apparently now he's ready to do some shopping ! No chance mate we're in lockdown too ! He's given me a list of mostly rubbish food including choc biscuits, kit kats, fruit sauce and some grapes, which must only be from S Africa and sweet. The only meal in there was a frozen spag bol and his parting shot was " You'd think Al*is would pull their finger out and deliver to their customers " I despair
Nelski fire up the chara, but Australia isn't far enough. I'm thinking Mars because he's obviously not from this planet, perhaps that's his home ? He's certainly not from Earth
I will have to look through my freezer to see what meals I can make for him. I can see a batch cooking session coming up, but as I'm having a delivery on the weekend, I will wait and see what arrives first. I have ordered some ready meals for him, good job I was on the ball.I think most of the morning will be meal planning and then I must sort out the freezer too, surely there must be some room in there after removing 2 things yesterday ?. I want to hoover and dust downstairs, clean the halogen oven and clean down the kitchen too.Tea will be the rest of yesterdays pie, roasties and veg, as we had the pie with chips yesterday, followed by more toffee pavlova.Take care, stay safe and hugs to anyone struggling with daily life, probably most, if not all of us. Sending healing vibes to the poorly ones too.nan xx

Morning
Cold here today. Not the best nights sleep but thats par for the course at the moment one good night one bad night. Kitchen attack today ....well as much as my wonkiness will allow. Yesterdays chicken roast dinner was lovely and despite the small chicken I will have enough for tonight too then Ill make some stock to use in a risotto tomorrow so not as bad value as I thought. Wrecked the kitchen hence the need for todays to do list. Did finally make the banana loaf for the neighbours oh the joy of having flour and butter!
Absolutely nothing else happening at the moment nothing at all not a single thing....nada....zilch.... Oh well maybe thats a good thing its a rare event perhaps Ill make the most of it.
Take care all and try to keep sane xx

Hi everybody,
I spent yesterday afternoon in bed with an awful migraine but still managed to sleep all night. I'm feeling quite a bit better today thankfully.
We Facetimed with Laura and Esben before the migraine struck and it hit me that he could be 8 months old before we see him in person again by which time he'll probably have forgotten us. He was greeting me with beautiful smiles before we had to isolate but I don't think he'll be able to associate the videos with us in person. It makes me very sad.
Chris said that he'd call on his way to work with some eggs he'd managed to get but it looks like he forgot or didn't have time. It's fine, we're not desperate, I just want to do a bit of baking but it will wait. Apart from that it will be sewing and a bit of housework and deciding on dinner, maybe salmon with lentils, I'll see.
Does anyone know how LameWolf is getting on?13 -
Morning All
I've been for my walk, didn't see many folk but I did see a lady I've seen for the past couple of days, she sits on a wall by the main road with her dog at her side just watching the world go by. I have a few words with her (from the regulatory distance), I may be the only person she has seen and spoken to for the day. I think tomorrow I'll ask if she needs anything, it's not far out of my way to get to the shop.
Your Dad is certainly challenging nanny!
Take your time TA, we seem to have a lot of time at the moment!
Snoozer, I have thought the same, little Sophie will have forgotten me by the time I get to see her, when we have a video chat she just wants to grab the phone!
I cut the grass yesterday afternoon, it was gloriously sunny but still quite cold. I was going to jet wash the decking but I think DD has the power washer as I can't find it anywhere here. The pea and bean seeds I had have been planted, they are presently in the DGC's room. It gets nice and sunny in there so should grow well - as long as the seeds aren't too out of date.
I thought we may have Specky and tru back, would be good to know they are OK.
Hope you have as good a day as possible, take care. XX15 -
Morning all Dolly walked and fed and 2 beds changed just waiting for DD2 to phone for me to collect her from the station buses are hardly running and she has just finished a 14hr shift at the hospital i need to get bread on the way as well other than that its another boring day I might clean the kitchen tiles today as a treat . DH is still working from home Dinner tonight meatball marinara and garlic bread
Snoozer glad the migrant has cleared DH and I seem to be suffering with headaches at the moment but i think it is the worry I am sure Esben will recognise you as you are a daily part of his life even if on face time x
Dumpling hugs to all your family x
Ruby thinking of you as always x
Right nothing else to say seems like we are all just plodding along hugs to those with worries ,poorlies or cantankerous oldies
have a good day whatever you are up to xxSlava Ukraini16 -
Good morning all,
I've also been out for a walk. Just half an hour round the estate with the HT before anyone else gets going. I want to crochet a rainbow and a sun for the front window today. It was lovely to see so many drawings etc in other people's windows.
Today I will do the ironing - I'm fed up looking at it and most of it is the HT's uniform. He won't be needing that for a while. This afternoon will be something on netflix watched with the HT who also has a clip of Khloe Kardashians pantry to show me. I wouldn't watch them usually but I'm strangely keen to see a posh pantry
Nanny it's a good job that you took notice of what was going on
Nels big hugs and I hope your mum stays in today.
TA do you have a smartphone? The kids are all using an app called "houseparty". If you do and you can figure it out this could be a chance to impress the grandaughters
Take care all of you
