53 days and counting... no refund yet
Marvellous! Thanks for letting me know. A friend of mine has since told me they had a cancelled flight with them in the past (pre COVID-19) and even then it took best part of 2 months for the cash the land in their bank!

Out of curiosity, has anyone successfully received a refund from Wizzair yet? I'm roughly half way through my 60 days since applying. A couple of weeks after requesting the refund I had an e-mail with an invoice / credit note and was pleasantly surprised assuming that had meant they'd processed it but so far nothing has landed in my account.

I'm not desperate and appreciate repatriations etc. are a greater priority. Just curious as to whether anyone has actually received a refund yet and how long it took relative to the quoted 60+ days?
We did..! Our flight from glasgow to budapest on 27th April was cancelled and we called the day before to ask about options. Call only took about 5 mins and we were told the money would be refunded within 7 days. Was back in the account exactly a week after. Maybe things have changed now? Hopefully everyone gets their money back :)

Virgin are taking 100 days to refund - but realistically, nothing can be done about it. Just a waiting game

Perhaps Richard Branson could publicly apologise for the delays in refunding customers or have I missed that ?
He is not normally media shy.
Delta own 49% of Virgin are they also in dire straits or could they help out ?

Warning: it sounds as though you used your card to pay for others, who in turn paid you? If that is right, they are not protected by s 75 as they did not use a credit card to pay for their tickets, you and your immediate family will be protected but that is all
That's not correct, Martin Lewis's guidance page on the matter suggests it should be fine.

As way of general update I'm still waiting for my £700+, 54 days now and counting. I got the invoice of the refund the same day I processed it so I don't think receiving that is any indication of things moving along.

I did try and contact Barclays but they weren't able to offer help the day I called as they didn't have the right team set up to work remotely supposedly. That was 50 days ago though (time under lockdown seems to have completely disappeared) so I am trying again today!

Martin's guide on coronavirus travel disruption suggests a chargeback claim should be the easier route as barclaycard claims it from Wizzair's bank rather than shelling out the cash themselves as in the case of a s75 claim.

I received the invoice confirming my requested refund 24 March.....still no sign of the money over 60 days later
  • Hi all,
Has anyone actually had their refund? I received an email on 24th March saying my flight was cancelled, submitted a refund claim the same day, received an invoice on 25th March and finally received confirmation of my refund request on 14th April. I’m on day 60 from submitting my refund claim but still no sign of my money. Im wondering if I need to wait 60 days from 14th April now?
As per other messages, I’m not desperate just yet but why promise 60days if they can’t abide by it? I’m looking on their website and they no longer state 60days and just have that it’s taking significantly longer... I’m just wondering if anyone has any success and what they did?
    Many thanks

Yeah I too would be curious to here if anybody at all has got paid. I was actually told only 'it could be longer than 60 days' rather than any kind of promise it would fall within that timeframe. Chargeback claims should be done within 120 days I believe so we're half way through the window for issuing those now, something to keep an eye on.

I spent 3 hours 43 minutes on hold to barclaycard yesterday only to be disconnected...
