Looks like you're missing the arm that activates the switch.
Should be a part a lever or arm that presses against the white button on the switch when the paper is fed in.
At least that's how it appears to be on mine looking down the slot. A Lidl one, but a different model.

Aaaah! No spare bits fell out, nothing like an arm, but I understand what may be missing......... Looks like it will be the tip for it now! (When it opens!!).I'm really angry with myself now, as I was SO careful!! Any idea what the lever might look like...? Or could I make one??? I do have plenty of time to do it..........!! Thank you both for your help so far!
  • I have an arm  4 cm and a grey strip that fell out when I tried to unblock the cutting wheels. I will use your photo of the switch to help me , but does anyone have a photo showing how to attach these things?

Isn't this shredder just a strip-cut shredder? If so, bin it and get a shredder than shreds your documents into smaller and more securer bits.  I wouldn't bother wasting money on strip-cut shredders, you'd be just as well tearing the paper up a few times to achieve what is basically the same result.
  • I have a cross-shredder in my other office which is more robust and never blocks. I tried all way with this arm to make it fixed yet responsive to push the contact. Not a chance! I have now stuck the contact permanently with a piece of tape! I lost the "automatic " function, but I can now shred paper! Thanks for your help and advice

Why didn't you just tape the microswitch closed?

It wouldn't work in auto any more but it would work!
