Morning everyone
So sorry to hear your sad news Dumpling
DD and little grand daughter were discharged yesterday but of course I can't see them so that's made me feel very sad. I left DDs birthday presents she should have had on Wednesday in a bag on the step and she picked them up on her way past. Grand daughter needs the operation but there's no one to do it so it won't happen until this is all over. For the time being she'll be on her milk 24/7 so her blood sugars won't drop....I'm so worried she pulls her tube out of her nose because then she'd have to go back to hospital,
I always do my dad's banking with him - sitting beside him. Yesterday, I did it over the phone....it was exhausting. He just couldn't grasp how his bank was on my laptop, he thought it could only work on his laptop...it took an awful lot of explaining!
Hope everyone has a 'good as they can' day. I was talking to a friend from work last night about how weird it is when every day is the same....it doesn't matter what day it actually is,
Take care

GERS your comment about party lines gave me a bit of light relief and stopped me dwelling on today. It took me back down Memory Lane to the late 40's early 50s when I was a child. We didn't have a phone but we lived next door to my grandma and grandad who did have one. A dreaded party line! My grandma suffered bad asthma all her life and in those days, before treatments etc improved, she often needed an urgent visit from the Doctor. The nearest phone box was over half a mile down the lane so, for a bit of piece of mind, they had the phone installed. It was only ever used in an emergency and when it was used my grandad always put a big T (for telephone!) on the calendar. Then religiously checked his T's off against the BT bill when it came. He didn't trust them to get it right and didn't want to be charged for calls the party line might have made!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14

Morning All
Sorry to hear of Steve's Mum passing dumpling, lots of love to you all.
Well, I was awake just after 5, tried to go back to sleep but didn't manage so got up for a cup of much needed peppermint tea. I was dressed and out of the house for 6.45 and had a good hours walk, just around the houses and the town but it was lovely. The sun is out and it's quite cold but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I passed a little Co-op so called in for some fresh rolls (which I have just eaten) and they had one bag of SR flour, the only thing I couldn't get yesterday.
Only worked for 2 1/2 hours yesterday, there was nothing to do so was a bit bored but enjoyed chatting to colleagues from a distance. Called at the allotment on the way home and planted some more onions, they don't need much looking after so don't need to go back for a while. I'm worried my car could break down (not that it's likely to I hope) and I would have to put someone from the road rescue services in danger and it's a bit too far to walk.
The bedding and another load is out, it was steaming when I pegged it on the line, the mattress protector is in the WM at the moment, that will have to lay over the rack outside as the line is full. I'm looking forward to going to bed tonight!
I'll go in the shower in a minute then must plant some seeds. Chin up peeps, take care. XX14 -
Morning
Today is a good dayAsda arrived at 8 and I was shocked at how much was NOT missing
I even got butter, flour and paracetamol. I am now well stocked for the week and can even make some banana loaf later for my neighbours who have been so kind. Funny how you readjust what are you grateful for in these times.
Its gone lots colder here today so garden chill time is out but I have "stuff" to do inside. Leg still useless so exercise is essential now found a few internet sessions to do which I just need a bucket of motivation for. Mum is doing OK in fact I think she's loving all the attention she is getting from neighbours its very comforting for me too although... for the moment I have her shopping in hand.
Food wise it was burger night last night which I love ...stacked with bacon mushrooms and mouse cheeseTonight I will be using some of the crusty loaf that amazingly arrived so thinking a peppered mackerel salad or maybe a hot chicken sandwich with chips
Dumpling sorry to hear your news

Dumpling, sorry to hear your sad news.
very chilly and windy down here in Kent, but good to see the sun. Doing some baking today, still think I can just pop out for any odd ingredients, wonder when this will become our new normal? Still, in best OS ways, make what I can with what I have.So pleased to have a garden, allotment and the coast to be outside in.Carolbee14 -
Morning all.
I've read through the thread but I think my brain has gone to mush because I can't remember who said what.
However, I did grasp that our dear Dumpling has had a death in the family. How wonderful for Steve's mother, but what a shock for everyone else. My love and thoughts will be with you and your family Dumpling.
TA, your story about the phone reminds me of when my parents got their first phone. They had moved out of the house they had lived in since they were married and the new house had a phone. Mum was thrilled until she realised that the number was only one different from the local doctors surgery. After a few months of listening to people's symptoms she grew tired of it and when she picked up the phone and heard, "Dr. Saunders surgery?" she snapped, "Wrong number," and slammed the phone down.
My brother was going abroad on holiday and assured Mum that the country he was going to also had phones and he would ring to let her know he had arrived safely.
Accordingly, once he had settled in he set about the long winded task of setting up this phone call. Having parted with an arm and a leg in the local currency, struggled with the language and waited for the booked time slot he finally got through and heard Mum's phone ringing (are you ahead of me here?) When Mum picked up the phone, DB enquired facetiously, "Dr Saunders Surgery?" "Wrong number," snapped Mum. And put the phone down.
It went into family history.
Okey Dokey, I believe it is Saturday. The only day of the week that I buy a newspaper. I wonder if newspapers could be categorised as essential purchases. I'll try it anyway, the walk down to the village shop will do me good and I don't need anything else.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Morning all
Bright and sunny here but with a fierce wind howling it woke me several times in the night, I have stripped the beds and got them on a wash will peg them out but will need to double peg today !
Will have a clean round today and OH can do upstairs, I think dd is going to was her car so I might do mine too. Will walk the pups later over the field.
I was thinking last night thank goodness that DD left her horrible EX otherwise she would now be stuck in the house with him for weeks, she said he would not have lifted a finger to help in the house and would not have gone shopping at all so it would all have been up to her also his mood would have darkened as he was stuck in and god only knows what he would have done to her, its been one of the worst years of my life but also one of the best as I was waiting for something to happen since she met him and at least now I know she is safe.
Pizza for dinner tonight with salad and garlic bread so nice and easy it will also clear some room in the freezer.
Dumpling I am so sorry to hear about Steve's mum xx
Stay safe everyone xx13
