Got a booking at a premier inn and one at a travelodge which are advance rates non refundable they say you can transfer the bookings to another date but if it's more you will have to pay extra is that right I don't think that's fare if you can't get a refund

When are the bookings for and have the hotels actually confirmed they are closed on those dates?0

For bookings for stays from 24th March – 14th April
In order to comply with the latest Government guidelines if you have a stay in this period, regardless of rate type, we instruct you to cancel your booking online. For bookings for stays from 15th April – 31st May
Based on the latest Government advice we will now be providing customers an opportunity to cancel their Non-Flex or Semi-Flex booking and obtain a full refund. At this stage, this only applies to customers whose stay is due to commence between 19th March 2020 and 31st May 2020. The booking must be cancelled by 23:59 the day prior to arrival.

It's 22 and 23rd May will check for confirmation but if the tourist attractions are not open in going to visit the local attractions not worth me going just to stay in a hotel if everywhere around is closed as I don't think virus will be gone by then0

@johncas1: Your last post may have clashed with the reply that Sooler has kindly given - see above. It does show that it is always worth looking at the hotel/airline/shop/retailers websites as very often the answers to the many questions being posted at the moment on these forums can be found there.0

Premier inn gave me a refund when I cancelled despite me having the cheaper deal which should be no refund or amendments.
It's made me think really highly of Premier inn and I'll look at them first every time from now on.Grippy is my middle name!1 -
Cheapest rate room booking with Premier Inn, offered full refund regardless, done. Very impressed by what I consider to be extremely generous, great customer service Premier Inn.
Travelodge, not too bad IMO. Had 2 separate cheapest rate bookings with them, offered booking tranfers only, if rate was cheaper no refund of difference, if rate was dearer I'd have to pay the difference.
Supposed to be simply done on line via 'my booking', but after a few attempts I gave up as "computer says no"! Cancelled instead & opted for vouchers, was pleased those arrived within a few minutes by email.
Booked new dates, 1 only cost a few pounds more, but the other was over £30 more, though to be fair, it is the night before the rescheduled Manchester marathon. Only 1 voucher can be used per booking.
The voucher offer includes the opportunity to change the bookings again if required, for full voucher value plus any extra I'd paid. All in all I thought this wasn't a bad offer from Travelodge, obviously not as good as Premier but neither had to offer anything, it was my choice to pay cheapest rate & coronavirus isn't their fault.
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.1 -
At start of March we had two rooms booked on the cheap non refundable rate for York. My mum shattered her elbow days before we were meant to go. Quick call and they offered to cancel both. This despite the fact they were already being hammered by nervous bookers at that point. I have always found their customer service to be superb and use them a lot.1
