Probate Procedure

Hi All
A very quick simple question.
I completed all my IHT Forms and HMRC have confirmed that they have sent the relevant forms to the London Probate Office to confirm no Inheritance Tax is payable on my late mothers estate (value is circa £700k)
I have complete and sent off the PA1P which was received by them on the 10th March.
I have read somewhere that there is no longer a need to go and Swear an Oath - is that right? If so, I am guessing that at some point over the next few weeks I will just receive the Grant of Probate in the post?
I'm keen to get this as my Mum had quite a lot of cash in investments and with the uncertainty in the market I can't get the cash out without the Grant.
Thanks in advance for any / all help
Steve

Have you tried to call then Bobziz?Bobziz said:Mine was received 10th Jan and I'm still waiting ☹️0 -
yep, I get to listen to a number of messages and then they say if we're busy you'll be cut off. I'm always cut off. I've lost count of how many times I've tried. No response to emails either. I'd go to the office in person if it weren't for the lock down, but they only see people by appointment, and yes, you've guessed it, you need to ring up for an appointment.....Sarries1968 said:

Oh dear - sorry to hear that.
Anyone else struggling with getting their Grant??0 -
I sent the forms off on February 22 and had a letter about swearing an oath on March 12, I managed to do that with a solicitor on the same day. On March 18 the cheque I wrote for extra copies was cashed. I'm hoping that the grant of probate will come in the post in the next week.0

The oath came in a letter from Cardiff probate office along with a copy of my father's will. It gave me the options of swearing the oath at a solicitors or completing a form (I've forgotten which one). I phoned my solicitor on the off chance they'd see me, went in the same day at 4pm, paid £5, we both signed the copy of the will and I swore the oath and it was posted back that day. The covering letter said they no longer made appointments for you to sign the oath at the probate office which on the original application I'd elected to do.1

The PA1P probate form has a section to be signed which is the statement of truth and replaces the need for swearing an oathSarries1968 said:

I'm wondering what form Sue completed where she ticked for swearing an oath?
I applied twice last year. Once for a grant of probate as there was a will, and once for letters of administration, as there was no will. I sent the first application to the Birmingham probate office but it was redirected to the Newcastle one, do I sent the second one direct to Newcastle. Not Rachmaninov
