Open Reach Closes India Call Centre till June 1st

Options

I've received this from my phone/ISP provider - Daisy Communications - but all suppliers affected.  Fingers crossed you don't have a problem !

Dear customer,

BT Openreach – the organisation that maintains the UK PSTN & ISDN infrastructure which supports traditional (non-IP) based telephone lines, along with ADSL and fibre broadband connections – announced on Tuesday that it had closed its overseas call centre due to a lockdown in India. This has now restricted all orders and faults to key critical services until at least 1 June.

In addition, Openreach has declared a Matter Beyond Our Reasonable Control (MBORC) on ALL products, effective 24 March 2020 at 23:59. The declaration of MBORC means Openreach may not be able to meet its normal Service Level Agreements (SLAs) / Guarantees and removes the recourse normally available to suppliers when these are not met. This also unavoidably impacts all communication providers, including Daisy Communications, in ensuring services are provisioned and repaired within the normal guaranteed timescales.

Add to that the post a few days ago saying OR will not visit homes .
  • I have no internet service because Openreach is not carrying out its required work.

I recently arranged to switch my home broadband supplier from TalkTalk to Plusnet. TalkTalk switched off their service on Tuesday 24 March. The Plusnet service did not start as promised by 25 March. I have been informed by Plusnet that the necessary step for the successful switchover is for Openreach to do some straightforward task on the phone line (this does not need access to my house). However, Plusnet says that the OpenReach office is not operating because of the ‘lockdown’. I was told by Plusnet that this phone switch service is carried out by an Openreach centre in India.

Access to a working internet connection is very important at this time. Online grocery shopping, keeping in touch with friends and family, working from home, banking and bill payments, and many other things are now not possible in my household.

The work that Openreach does in enabling ALL home internet services must be regarded as ‘key work’ in this coronavirus crisis.

Please can this issue be sorted out with Openreach.

There is no such organisation as BT Openreach, if you use an ISP that refers to Openreach in that way probably says a lot about them ( not in a good way )
