Morning All
I went to Aldi first thing, got there at 10 to 8 and the car park was almost full and there was a queue round the building. This is the first shop I've had to do for a week so felt I was entitled! The system they have in place works really well outside but the old dears don't seem to remember to keep away once in the shop. I had taken a list so was in and out in no time. Everything package has been washed and put away, the first time I've washed the shopping!
The applause (can't call it clap for carers, doesn't sound quite right) for the NHS and carers was very emotional last night, most of my road came out, one was ringing a bell. Nice to see everyone too even if it was from our gates.
RR - your OH was quite right to walk out, I would have done too.
TA - glad you could spend some time with your DS, it makes such a difference to have a face to face conversation doesn't it?
monna - I'm so glad you post every day now, it cheers me up no end.
Hugs to you dp1, I hope the little one gets the op soon.
Right, I'm in work at 11.30 so will get the washing started and organise myself. I have my ID badge with me in case I get stopped by the Rozzers!
Take care. XX11 -
Morning all
Bright sunny day here its been lovely this week I have spent some time in the garden and I have had my walk each day which is keeping me sane !! DD has stripped her bed and will hang it out once its washed. Today I am going to tackle the bookshelf and sort it all out, yesterday I did the cabinet and the boot cupboard I am getting there with all these little jobs.
OH went out yesterday and managed to get some shopping so we are ok for a few days again he also got some for his dad and my mum so all good.
I found the clap for the NHS very emotional a lot of folk in our road went out and tears were streaming down my face I have a lot to thank the NHS for !
Take care everyone and stay safe xx13 -
Hello all,
Lots of people out clapping last night. We are very close to our local hospital and a lot of us have family and friends working for the NHS there. It was good to see whole families on their doorsteps. There's been a few f/book posts to say that they heard us and were as emotional as we were. My two closest friends both work for the NHS and one who is usually a consultant is undergoing a training course to start work on acute admissions.
I cut the grass in the back garden yesterday. It took two cuts. One on a longer cut, then I let it dry a bit and then cut it again short. The front garden gets it today! Still a lot of weeding to do and I want to plant my courgette seeds as well. My assistant gardener (the HT) asked to be allowed to clean the patio yesterday. Admittedly it's hard work as it didn't get done last year due to me spending as much time as possible with my friend who was teminally ill. He did two squares and asked for a tea break. I managed another 13 squares while he made the tea
Today my sous chef (also the HT) and I will be making pizza dough and then pizza. Should be interesting.....at least he doesn't mind washing dishes. He's also been the chief cat entertainer this past week. So far the cat looks like she's lost some weight and is sound asleep by 6pm every night.
Nels my best mate is having physio just now for the horrendous leg injury he acquired just before Christmas. He says the exercises really, really hurt and he's not normally one to complain so big hugs to you. You're doing really well to carry it on by yourself.
dp1 big hugs for your daughter too. It must be hard watching her baby go through so much. My nephew had a big op when he was a baby. His stomach was mal-rotated so had to be turned and he had to have his appendix out or it would have been under his arm and nobody would have known what it was if he had appendicitis. I hope any surgery that your grandaughter has goes as well as his did.
Take care all of you

Morning all- hope you are all keeping well.dp1 hugs for you all, hope DGD can get the op sooner than later.TA glad you enjoyed the companyNelski keep at it with the exercises. That was lovely of your neighbours.I haven't been able to get flour for weeks online
I still have a little bit of ordinary and some bread flour but the rate the 3 menfolk get through my breadmaking
it won't last that long.
The park was nice and quiet but I went out earlier than usual, frosty, so pooch enjoyed a good roll round on the floor, she loves it.Dh is busy cleaning the windows outside, yesterday he did the glass roof in the kitchen. We all went outside to clap last night, we are only a short row of cottages with no one in front of us but we could hear others in the distance and next door but one were out too.I've put one of my unironed tops on but it's fine now I've warmed it up - think this is the way forwardTake care x

Just had a text from DS he is almost at the door of Morrisons now after queuing an hour and a half to get that far!!! It's reminiscent of the days of rationing. Xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13

That's awful, hope he can get everything he needs. My drive outside was most enjoyable, probably because everything was so quiet. I drove past a small retail park which has an M&S so called it - it was almost empty! Those who were inside were being very careful about spacing. Then I found a lovely market stall outside of closed coffee shop, they are selling fresh fruit and veg and beautiful breads. I got leeks, eggs and a freshly baked loaf. The staff are also making up free food parcels of eggs, milk, bread etc to give to the over 70s so I left a donation towards that. Great initiative worth supporting.I went to the pharmacy to pick up some meds for DM but the staff hadn't had time to collect th script yet so I drove to the surgery for it. Doors closed and a new doorbell to press for staff to come to the door. Got the script and then dropped it off at the pharmacy. There the staff have got barriers at the door as it's a really small shop and customers couldn't keep 2m apart, so one of the staff is working at the front door. It's all very strange!13

Morning,
Went out last night at 8pm with OH and clapped. Quite a good response from our road. Some fireworks were let off too.
Sunny but cold here. Will hang washing on the line and then mow the lawns.
Stay safe x

Morning lovelies, the sun is out but there is a biting wind.My mood swings are up and down like the buses, or they would be if they hadn't stopped the service to about 2 a day. My moods go from angry, tearful, euphoric to cba almost hourly. BTW no clapping here, except us that we could hear/see. Is it going to be every night now ?We " saw" DD last night and she has to work Thurs and Frid next week, even though the school started off with 7 children and now this week it's down to 3. (There is provision for 150 ) SiL hasn't been called in yet but the secondary school only has 1 child at present. They are also working over the Easter hols ( and no PPE for teachers I believe)Mr Fix It's knee has an egg on the side of it, my best description there, so he is on rest again today, nurse Nanny's orders, but he's already settling himself in my craft room and I need to set up the sewing machine for him apparently. He's seems to have developed selective hearing. Good job he's ambidextrous with his feet as well as his hands
I shall potter about and if I can find some energy from the depths of my boots, I shall mow the back lawn. It's been flattened a bit with us walking on it when lunberjacking, but the grass is quite long and seems the cats like to use it as a loo if it's not cut. Yuck ! Strangely the front lawns haven't grown as much and won't need a haircut for another 2 weeks, hopefully.
I will ring Dad tonight and DD is on the case of setting him up with a whatsapp so he can see us face to face. DGS has offered his phone on extended loan and DD is waiting for a new sims card to arrive. She will have to give Dad a written explanation of what to do and with pictures, as things go in one ear and out the other. Bit like me as I've got older( will admit I was like it in my younger days too with History/ Geography facts. But I was hot on languages, weird.)
Sorry I have forgotten who has washed their shopping, how did you wash things like flour bags ? The only way I can think of is to decant it into new bags or air tight tubs.Right I must shake myself and do something. Oh must I ?I believe we all need several huge hugs each today ((((((())))))). Keep those spirits up you lovely people and we will get through this !! I have to talk myself into it today too.
Take care allnan xxPS Sorry should have said that the children in school belong to 2 parents who are NHS front line staff.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently14 -
Morning everyone. Not a lot to say. The weather is nice and sunny we have been sitting out in the garden. Did quite a bit of washing so the basket is empty.12

AFternoon all! Well, the birght weather continues, OH has painted all of the fences with another coat so they look really fresh. He has also spray ainted the yukky garage door black, looks much better even if it will be going when we eventually have the building work done, next century probably.Yesterday I was recovering and wrangling with several abusive emails from local Freecycle group as to why the group was shut. Well, hello? Why do you think? Someone also told me they were going to email the governement about it...Off you go then, I imagine they are somewhat busy with other stuff. Nels, you're right, people will try anything to get around soemthing, I don't know why they think the rules should not apply to them. I did see the governement had a thing about excercising your dog, and no, that does not mean you get to drive somewhere, then excercise, then go home again...And I wonder what new initiatives there might be now that Boris has it. A friend of ours has just recovered from it, huge sigh of relief...I am shortening the front window curtains today, the windows are an odd size so any shop bought ones were either two inches too big or two inches too small. They've been up there for nearly four years so I reckon it's time to shorten them now.Gardening work still going ahead, making a new bed etc. Haven't smashed any concrete since the day before yesterday because I was pooped and aching all over. The area I was smashing turned out to be much bigger than I thought so I might wait until I can get hold of a jackhammer and then do the path at the same time. I'm a bugg*r for starting something and not finishing.Good to hear you are all mostly safe if a bit emotional and lonely...If it helps, I send you all big virtual squishy cwtches, but I expect nanny does that better than me, so try her first
RR, yep, off the site he goes, it's not rocket science now is it to use a hanky? Some people just don't get it. Our road didn't really clap last night but we are a cul de sac sort of with quite a few oldies who are definitely not on facebook...I heard the main road and the fireworks though, how lovely to show your appreciation in an audible way...Monna, your thought for the day is perfect
Nels, you keep rocking! Be good, be safe, and remember what Gers said...the sun always past the yardarm somewhere...Feet up Friday and don't feel guilty about it!
