Cex iphone 8
Hi,
I’ve had an iPhone 6 for about 5 years, on a sim only since my contract ended 3 years ago. Recently it has shut down unexpectedly a few times and now that I’m working from home for the foreseeable future I needed something more reliable, especially given the number of video calls I’m now on.
I ordered an iPhone 8, 256GB, from cex online (have bought plenty there before but never a phone). It was category B so one down from mint.
It arrived the next day and the condition looks excellent and it seems to be working fine, although it does seem very warm when charging, and after I came off a Houseparty call earlier the battery had dropped 30% in half an hour and the phone was quite hot again. I checked the battery settings and the maximum capacity is 86%. My current iPhone 6 is on 95% but did have a new battery about 2 years ago.
My question is, does this seem like a reasonable condition to be reselling the phone in? Should I expect that it should be a fully refurbished phone which has a battery which is going to last? And would you expect that if the overheating continues, this is related to the battery?
Thanks

You could get back in touch with cex as they offer 2 year warranty or you could try apple0

My iPhone 7 is on 86 % and it isn't great. You get used to plugging it in all the time. At least you have wireless charging. It also may be seeming worse because the phone is new to you and everything is busy in the background downloading etc.
Using battery saving mode really does make a difference.

Thanks - it seems like I’ve taken a backwards step by getting this phone, as the battery is much better on my old one. I guess I was just interested to know whether you think this is a fair condition to sell a refurbished phone in?0

If it was sold as Grade B you have to expect some less-than-as-new features. Depends how much you paid for it really.Used to be Bogof_Babe. It did need updating!0

It's a used phone not a refurbished phone. The battery will be the original one which may have belonged to a light user that charged it
properly. Or a heavy user who fast charged it 2 or 3 times a day. Its used who knows how it was treated.
The product rating is on the external condition.
That put me off buying a phone from them whilst recently looking for an upgrade to my S6.

Thanks, I’ve spoken to them via Twitter and sounds like I can return it.0
