Leftover Travel Money USD best place to exchange?

I've recently managed to return to the UK but most of my money is in USD cash.
Post Office said they wouldn't take them as I hadn't bought them there.
Barclays could open foreign currency account but they can't accept foreign cash deposits at the moment.
The Currency Club appear to be the only Money Exchange accepting foreign currency (postal only) at the moment but their exchange is awful at 1.2861.
Is anyone else in the same situation and have you found any better options?

Hang on to them till the rate improves or you return to the USA ,how much are we talking about here hundreds or thousands of dollars?0

Thousands, unfortunately I seem to be getting new unexpected bills on a daily basis and there's a good chance I'll have no income in the near future. I'd like to avoid The Currency Club's poor exchange but if they're the only exchange still open they'll have to do.XE = 1.21602TCC = 1.3009At time of posting this.

I've got a friend with the same problem, she's been hanging on hoping to not have to exchange her dollars but now has no choice. Was this your only option in the end?0
